Marvel artist Ardian Syaf will face “disciplinary action” after it was revealed over the weekend that he promoted an anti-Christian and anti-Semitic verse from the Koran in one of its books.

Superhero fans know the X-Men as a team of “mutants” that fights against intolerance. The newest issue of “X-Men Gold,” however, included a reference to Indonesian politics and the Koranic chapter and verse QS 5:51. The surreptitious messaging spread on Reddit and entertainment websites on Saturday before the company took action.

“O you who have believed, do not take the Jews and the Christians as allies,” one translation of the text reads. “They are, in fact, allies of one another. And whoever is an ally to them among you — then indeed, he is one of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.”

Not sure if the artist is a Muslim himself but is an Indonesian where the culture is dominated by Islam but currently has a Christian governor that is facing alot of hate.

Bleeding Cool explained in a post that the numbers 212, 51, and QS 5:51 relate to a series of protests against the Christian Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, who is currently running for reelection. Last September, Basuki was widely criticized after a speech in which he claimed that Muslim groups were using a verse from the Quran to oppose his candidacy. While Basuki later apologized for his remarks, he’s been charged with violating blasphemy laws, and has prompted mass protests in November and December. The number 212 has come to represent the protests, which have been spurred on by Islamic groups such as the Islamic Defenders Front, a hard-line organization known for its violent rhetoric and hate crimes.

Oh ok, the panel within the article has Colossus with that, yes, I see it now.

Maybe Colossus is Muslim now? I doubt it, but, I don't know how the shirt plays in to anything taking place within the story.

im an Indonesian, the situation here not as black and white as bleeding cool tries to make it to be.
sure, the protest are stupid but the governor himself is also hypocrite corrupt PoS who masquerades as an anti-corruption white knight.
mind you he was never elected into office, the position was handed to him after the previous governor elected as the president. and now he got full protection from the government, including delaying the trials, media control, and other kind of bullshits because the president is his protector.

he was the first one who brought up the passage. and its on an event that is not related to election at all. he was campaigning for a re-election disguised as a government service.

everyone has the right to chose any candidate for their preference, if a muslim chose to not vote for non-muslim its their right.
