I was gonna say it must sting. But since Canada is so consistent at being the better country, I would say you've gotten used to it.

I guess America will crawl to legalisation with individual states doing it bit by bit and finally it will happen after all of Western Europe does it. Business as usual.

Slowpokes.

As much as I hate the people who shit on Trudeau just because of who his dad was, I'm not sure they can realistically follow through within a year. I'd like to see it, seeing as how it's pretty much equal in danger to alcohol and tobacco, and likely less addictive, and how if it was legal, then research could actually be done on it. But realistically here, it's probably going to get hung up a few times and will be up in the air by the time the next election rolls around.

Also important to note too is that it's going to be a provincial matter to legislate, meaning conservative provinces like Saskatchewan are probably just going to make it damn near impossible to buy or use.

I'm still stunned that Massachusetts legalized it before New York, if only because of their draconian Blue Laws.

Either way, it's absurd for pot to illegal.

What will the USA do?

Sessions (everyone should despise that racist elf) will try to have the federal government enforce the illegality of it while states that have it legalized will probably unify and fight against it in the courts due to how much of a profit it's making for said states.

That racist elf should, if he's following the script, support States Rights.

The problem is that it can never actually develop into an industry while it's federally blocked. If it's still illegal under federal law, that means that banks won't touch any of the profits or payroll, meaning it's a strictly cash business. That leaves so much room for corruption and crime and that will just be used on a federal level to further justify the legality of it. They need like a state-run pot money co-op or something, but that will probably not happen until the business proves to be profitable and crime-free.

What is the reason that it is federally illegal? Have they given a reason for it?

Not that I'm aware of, at least nothing beyond the standard "It's a drug, drugs need to be controlled substances because it's dangerous to allow people free reign over drugs" idea. In some cases that has some merit, but not so much in pot's case.
