Incredible. IMO it's him at his best. The first trilogy, anyway.

First trilogy only? I'll get those, then. Are the others worth it, or is 1-3 a self contained story?

1-3 is a self-contained story. The next 3 books are another separate story with different characters on the same world like 200 years later

Amazing. The first trilogy is honestly my favorite of all time. It's epic in every way and the way Sanderson describes the world, the fighting, the characters and the story is perfect. READ IT NOW.

1-3 works great standalone. There are a couple loose ends, especially if you're into the whole cosmere megaverse stuff, but it's a fine note to go out on.

The next series basically picks up a couple hundred years later just as the industrial age has started to hit. So trains and gunfights and shit. They're fun, still worth reading if you want to know what happened next, but just feel more rushed and like less effort was put in.

Then once you're done with that, you can pick up The Secret History, which as a book is pretty terrible but as a secret peek into some of the weirder stuff going on behind the scenes of the first trilogy is pretty interesting.

I really loved the first two book, but didn't really care too much for the third. Still haven't started the second series.

Huh, never heard this one before. Usually book 2 is the one people don't enjoy as much.

First trilogy is so good.

The first book is like 10/10. Second and third are a dip in quality but still good, and as a whole makes the trilogy one awesome story

Sanderson is easily my favourite author and the Mistborn trilogy is what got me to start reading his work. Like said above the first trilogy is great, the second set a few hundred years later is good but you can tell it wasn't his main project while writing it.
