free normal life, imagine having a rabbit and all he gets is food and care from you but that rabbit will never get chance to mate and create kids

even if you have a male/female version of pets, thats still not their normal wild and free life

Most pets can't survive in the wild since they are domesticated.

Sometimes I eat sunflower seeds in front of wild birds just to see their reaction.

I think I don't give a fuck. We evolved the brains and learned how to domesticate animals. They likely couldn't survive in the wild if they wanted to.

Some species are actually idiots out in the wild.

Many types of owls are classic examples.

I agree about having a bird etc as a pet being wrong. Really only cats and dogs should be kept as pets because their natural habitat is with us now (certainly with dogs anyway).

I rescued a bird from death when it was young. For the longest time its wing was unusable. Now its fine, but it wouldnt be capable of living out in the wild now that it has no life experience. Is that wrong?

Most wild animals only live like 7 years or so, it depends on the species. I think most exotics should be left in the wild like chinchillas or snakes. That's truly taking them out of their habitat and making a sad synthetic one for them.

Most typical pets would make it 5 years max out in the wild before disease, parasite, being hunted etc take over. They don't really care about mates. They just have natural urge to have kids like 90% of mammals.
