She told me she had no clue about what happened, but he apparently killed himself in a Mexico during a business trip. Weird. I have friends who joined those shitty company. I am a little concerned about their well being.

I once saw a video and they prey on people's insecurities. They want to be seen as the "only way to save lives".

Why aren't they investigated by authorities, they seem way too manipulative in their scams.

Legally, MLM isn't a scam

Ethically, it's blatantly a scam

Because the government doesn't give a shit as long as they can tax it.

This could happen literally. Don't ever try to fuck with one of the pyramids. There are always snipers trained on them.

I've always wondered what's the train of though of the people that buy pyramid schemes and get sucked into them...

Like you'd have to be really stupid to not see how these are scams, "too good to be real" kind of deal.

No you don't. You just have to be desperate and insecure. The big shots in MLM's are masters of manipulation, and they target good, honest people who are looking to build a better life for themselves and their families using tried and true techniques to draw people in and keep the money flowing upward.

The only people who can possibly benefit from MLM's are those who are just as evil and manipulative, who are willing to throw everyone they can under the bus to climb the ladder.

It's fucking sick.

Yeah, it's only considered legal because they distribute a product, but they often lie about how good the product us.

Like cults, they prey on people's insecurity. Scientology claims school is pointless, MLM promoters give a few examples like "bill gates dropped out of school and look where he is now". They also prey on people's insecurities. "You are smart if you join us, brainwashed by the medias if you don't" Pyramid schemes, cults and Donald Trump all use exactly the same strategy.

you'd think a company making you pay to even sign on would be a huge red flag, but I guess some people just get caught up in the promises of fame and fortune
