Current Events > I got my 4 wisdom teeth out this morning and am currently suffering

All 4 were sideways or impacted somehow so I just got them all out at once.

Currently blood is pouring out of my mouth like non stop and the pain is bad (Tylenol helps but runs out fast)

I also currently look like a chipmunk

How bad was it for you guys when you got them out (if you did)

I had six of those bastards pulled out and I didn't take any pain medication. I suffered about a couple days and the bleeding didn't stop until 4 or 5 days in.

Would do it again

All four of mine were impacted as well. My wife took me straight to Wendy's afterwards and got me a frosty. It tasted like blood.

I haven't had any wisdom teeth out but I've had a molar out. I couldn't open my mouth more than an inch for over a month, and the loose shards of tooth coming out later wasn't fun. Still got a loose shard in my gum that never left.

Had all four removed

While I was being put under I started hitting on one of the nurses.

Then I came to and on the car ride back to my place I tried to cut my friends ear off with a pen because "Stuck in the Middle With You" came on the radio and I thought it was "just like Reservoir Dogs!"

Honestly? For me it wasn't terribly bad. I guess I was lucky. The bleeding had mostly stopped by the evening. I wasn't even really in pain.

No real swelling either.

I really fucking hate pudding and jello now though.

The weirdest thing for me was when I got my wisdom teeth out a few years ago I experienced ZERO pain. zero.

Given the fact that everyone told me what a horrible experience it would be, it actually was even more concerning that I felt nothing.

Get well TC. I watched the entire Dollars Trilogy while resting. Worked wonders obviously for me.

Oh yeah I fainted as well. The dentist was terrified. It was afterwards, I sat up and she asked how I was feeling and I said "quite sick actually" and she said she'd fetch me some water and I said "No, like really sick" and I just sort of slumped over the drain thingy while she desperately asked that I was sure I didn't have any allergies. Apparently I went really, really pale. But it was alright.

Had to have 2 and 2 instead of all 4 removed at once because they were huge, and impacted too, so the dentist had to open my mouth, and slice the teeth off...

I didn't exactly suffer while the thing was done, but god damn after i got home and the meds ran off it was fucking hell, i tried to sleep as much as possible...

Sucks, bruh. I did mine two years ago and it was pretty bad. Couldn't open my mouth all the way for, like, three weeks. Sideways teeth are the worst...

I know there's science behind the mandible decreasing in old age due to lack of all teeth but is this really that significant for wisdom teeth only?

I read that impacted wisdom teeth could actually destroy the jaw bone

I got all four of mine taken out at once. A couple of them were just barely not rooted. It bled pretty bad, but it didn't hurt nearly bad enough to bother taking the pain pills they gave me.

um this is terrifying.

It was pretty rough eating when mines were growing in. I couldn't move my jaw past a certain point. I had two operations that were spaced a month apart or something i forget.

First one I was awake and the dentist put a drill into my mouth and i could hear the tooth breaking apart. I was fine for the rest of the day. The second time i choose to be put to sleep. I remember the dentist telling me to count to 5. Counted up to 3 and then i was out. I remember waking up and i was being walked to the car by the nurse and my mom. I went home and decided that it was a good idea to blast music in my room. The next day i was pretty fine. I was sore but other than that no issues.

I've needed to get my wisdom teeth out for like 5 years but I didn't have insurance. I really don't want to do it. I've had major surgery before but mouth pain annoys the hell out of me.

Recovery from wisdom teeth removal is a long, tough road. You're gonna be spitting blood for at least a week. Man, that was one point in my life I'd never wanna revisit.

Been around 60 hours since I got my teeth out. Luckily the pain and blood have greatly slowed down today. I hope I can finally sleep tonight. My cheeks are still pretty swollen though.

I never realized getting some teeth out required such an extensive healing and recovery period

Anyone ever had toothache? I wouldn't call it "the worst pain ever" but it's just persistent. I couldn't sleep with it. And I got it the day before an exam.

Had the same thing done to me. Hang in there TC. I might get worse before it gets better, but it will get better, I promise. Just think on that, about the day you will finally feel better. It's coming.

toothache is the worst pain of all, 2nd only to kidney stone for men or childbirth for women.

Another issue I'm having now is that I'm somewhat dizzy. I don't know if it's from all the blood loss or the antibiotics but yeah it sucks

I had a blast.

Last thing I remember, they told me I had three and we might as well get 'em all out at once, so I said "let's do it."

Next thing I remember, my mom was sitting there and I asked her if I got my teeth out. She said yes, lmao. The doctor came in and said some stuff; I don't remember what, but it was a total riot. Then mom and the nurse helped me out to the car and I told the nurse "we should do this again sometime." She told me as soon as I grew more wisdom teeth, we would, rofl.

Then as we were pullibg away I told my mom "I could use a small burger," she nodded but we didn't stop for a burger anywhere. I calledthe future Mrs. DevsBro on the phone while mom was picking up my prescription at CVS, and that was just the funniest thing ever. I could barely even say hi in between bursts of laughter into the phone.

I don't really remember bleeding much. 10/10 experience tbh.
