So I'm in this Wharf place, I've been lighting torches. I just rang a bell that made this pirate ship go all spooky

There's a platform below with an item but also a bunch of bloodstains and I have a lot of souls on me so I'm like "eeeeeh"

It depends on what you want to magic

There are 4 schools. Magic, Miracles, Hex and Pyro.

To use a magic you need a catalyst (weapon). Usually a staff for magic/hexes, chime for miracles/hexes, and a pyro glove for pyro.

While you have the catalyst equipped and the proper magic spell (attune at bonfire) on your up, use the appropriate shoulder button to get your spell off.

I fought a translucent crossbowman that looked like a bloodstain figure but I could damage it and it went hostile.

So the left path is blocked by rubble and a message to acquire stronger souls

The middle path has one of those ogre fucks

The right path is fucking Slender

The left pathway is the Shrine of Winter. To open it you either need the four great souls or 1 millions souls accumulated (meaning throughout the game, not that you're currently holding). The right side (slenderman forest) is a path towards one of the great souls.

I went through the slenerman forest up a staircase to a bonfire. I got two items. Is there any other paths/ especially worthwhile stuff in there?

I don't think anything's really given me the "oh fuck I can't take this" feeling like I got from early Black Knights and that armored rhinoceros in the first Dark Souls. But I hear there's a ton of bosses in this game so I'll give it time

Where did that girl who sells you pyromancy go that I gave clothes to? And where's my boy with the Halo sword

Exhaust clothes girls dialogue and she'll go to Majula

Benhart travels. He actually has a quest where you'll get his gear. Just gotta summon him to beat bosses. It ends sorta late game tho.

I got to Lost Bastille from that ship and got fucked up by a gang of enemies so I've been going through this area past the forest with all these cursed vases instead.
