Honestly, a bit. The effort to pleasure ratio is usually higher for masturbation. Great sex is better than the best masturbation by a huge gap but it's not always consistent.

Is it treated largely like it's the best thing ever, to the point that people can't even comprehend the fact that not everyone is interested in it, and even think that being uninterested automatically means a person is sick even though it's completely unnecessary for the survival of an individual? Yes? Then it is indeed overrated. I don't understand how this is even a question.

I think it's a bit overrated. There's a ton of pressure and anticipation to lose your virginity, but when it's hyped up like that and it actually happens, it isn't as great as you probably hoped.

Sex isn't overrated. If you think it is, maybe you're not getting full potential out of it. There is also too much of a good thing; it's easy to take it for granted if you're getting it every day. Give yourself handies for a few days and tell me you don't miss sex.

Here's my two cents

The actual act of sex itself is a bit overrated. I'm a bigger fan of foreplay, oral stimulation, and the things that ultimately lead up to sex.

In other words, sexual activities are not overrated, but sex itself can be a little bit. Key words here are a little bit. Oftentimes, it's easier to just rub one out in 10 minutes, rather than drive half an hour to my girlfriend's place, foreplay/sex for hours, then have to deal with the burden of sleeping in the same bed with someone, which I'm just terrible at.
