I have comcast, I know...terrible. Thought my internet was not performing at 100% speed, so I power cycled it and hit the reset button on the back. Since then, it has been randomly losing connection off and on. Like I got back to back download speeds of 80 and 2. I can't get into any games because my connection always times out.

Wat do?

This is just what a couple comcast guys told me to do. I saw them at neighbor's place and asked them. They said I should be receiving 75m and I was getting like 25. They told me to just power cycle it. So I did that lol. Now it's all screwy!

It wasn't losing connection to the internet before though. Just a small bit of lag in games. I would gladly take that over how it's acting now simply after I unplugged and plugged the thing and reset it...

no, in the modem circuitry
an electrical short in one of mine in the past caused similar issues - it works fine and then goes out intermittently

I just power cycled it before bed and I'm hoping for the best. That is such a major pain in the ass honestly lol because I probably don't have time for them to come out until like Tuesday

TBH you're gonna have to find some way to invest in a better router/modem set

The original comcast guy who set it up told me to get my own. So I did. It cost a fortune. The guy who came to install it was like "I don't know why he told you that. Return those, save yourself some money, and get our device. It'll save you a lot of money." Especially since I'm in a one bedroom place with everything that needs access to the router is in like a 10 foot radius to it. So he explained that I should just get their's because the expensive stuff would be a waste in the tiny place I'm living in. So I did (and bought myself a new couch with the money I saved. Haha), and honestly the internet wasn't working bad at all. Maybe the occasional lag here and there. But here I go being a perfectionist and expecting more lol. So I reset everything and look at what happens... :(

I get that it's not quite as good, which is what I would expect from something that costs $200 less. IMO, a scam involves losing money lol.

You rent it, you don't buy it from them (the comcast modems)
They've steadily been charging you like 10 bucks a month for it - over time you'd spend more on it than the initial $200

and if you're not renting it then well i guess you're not getting your moneys worth because you could have avoided all of this trouble for spending more at first

Yeah you throw their shit into bridge mode and put a decent router behind it to handle everything.
