A last ditch attempt to turn world powers against Assad?

Something is off about this for me...Whether its the amount of footage on this attack, or the timing of this attack (days after the U.S backed Assad??), even how quickly the U.S responded is off for me (they didn't even wait for confirmation it was the regime). :o.

The rebels bombed the center of Damascus during Spring Break and no one heard about it. This just seems like a last ditch effort for turn countries against Assad once again

You don't think its strange for him to use chemical weapons so close to winning and with the backing of the U.S?

I don't think that is impossible that Assad wasn't actually just indiscriminately bombing insurgent held territory and happened to hit a cache of chemicals held by the rebels. He would still be scum for having bombs dropped on his own people. I do think something feels odd about the timing of jumping into using chemical bombs during a time when it seems like the tide is turning in his favor, but I also recognize that Assad is a murderous dictator and they don't always act in ways that make sense. He could have seen America's declaration that Syria would decide what to do with him and decided he can do whatever he wanted.

I'm honestly not sure in this situation, and I'm one of the biggest Trump/Assad haters out there.

I think the more likely situation is that Assad got arrogant and had feelings of invincibility given the dual support of Putin/Trump (as opposed to the constant pressure of the Obama administration) and felt that he could get away with this without repercussions. Obviously that backfired.

He would have to be absolutely insane to use chemical weapons Not that I'm saying its not possible Its just much more plausible to me the rebels or some outside groups with some agenda about the war (prolonging it and getting some propaganda against Assad) to be the culprit when there is literally no reason for the regime themselves to use chemicals

im guessing it was daesh/isis or some rebels, they did that a year or two ago and also blamed assad.
Russia/Assad and even some American help has weakened ISIS.
why would he use gas when hes winning.

Exactly.

There is literal proof of the rebels using chemical weapons,
can't say the same for the regime and Assad

It's also possible that Assad was bombing the rebels and accidentally struck a stockpile of chemical weapons held by them. That would still make him a huge piece of shit for killing his own people, but maybe he didn't order the chemical attack himself.

Idk, this whole situation is such a huge clusterfuck.

if this is the case do you think he knew of chemical weapons in that location or it was placed there by ISIS so he triggers it?
