I usually wait until I get 500 bucks then I have them put it into my account. Last time I had 850 bucks though.

yeah but it's a flat rate % based on what i spend, and i only plan to put it toward my current balance

so i don't think it being sizable means much, and i know a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow, you dig?

I think you lose it if the card gets canceled for any reason. So you might as well redeem it frequently to prevent yourself from losing a bunch of money.

this is also a thing i hadn't considered (tho idk why it would get canceled; in this case, at least)

I do mine around Christmas time to help eat into the holiday costs, but I rarely carry a balance.

Anyway, it would be best to do it ASAP. Then you're not paying the extra interest. In reality, you're probably only saving a few dollars a year at most if you do that. It's up to you if it's worth the minor hassle.

i have no extra interest.

i'm paying off the statement balance in full, i just have that month's cashback to also redeem if i wish.

as i said above, a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow! that's the only reason i am thinking about redeeming it monthly per statement, instead of letting it accrue (because it will almost assuredly be used toward my total account balance)

If you redeem for travel, do you have to have enough rewards to cover the entire ticket price, or can you make up the difference in cash?
