A lot of Subways do have drive-thrus, but unlike most fast food places, they're super common in strip malls, which means no drive-thru.

Jersey Mike's is the best that I know about. Firehouse subs and Jimmy Johns are better than Subway. Even the Mexican place near me makes a Torta that is bigger, tastier, and costs less.

They use cheaper ingredients yet are more expensive than so many other options and in my experience have the lowest employment standards around.

Subway is cheap but they stopped being worth going to (if they weren't already) when they made it so only like two subs were $5 footlongs, and now that's gone entirely. I still wouldn't say they're more expensive than a lot of other options, but they aren't a better value.

I don't know if they just got shittier or I managed to be oblivious/in denial for years, but one day I realized that all their veggies are always dried out and look like shit and stopped going there regularly. That was the other big factor for me besides the elimination of $5 footlongs.

Do you live outside the US? Because I don't know otherwise how you haven't heard of at least Jimmy John's.

Jersey Mike's and Firehouse Subs are great. Jimmy John's is nothing special but it's a little more ubiquitous than those other two so it's convenient, and I'd still much rather eat there than Subway.

The Subways where I live literally try to shaft you on every single ingredient that they possibly can. They even weigh some of the meats out to the exact decimal point. If that doesn't scream low quality, anti-customer shit, I don't know what does.

I don't get how anyone could call it low quality though... I mean it's fresh bread with fresh lettuce, tomato, pickles, olives, onions, green peppers, spinach, etc. on it. not like it can be different?

although I do recall trying Mr Sub one time, and yeah, *that* was pretty low quality. but IIRC it was a seafood sandwich (almost the only kind I get) and their mix was really crappy salty shredded crab or something. Subway has fantastic imitation crab meat in white sauce.

I know they lost a lawsuit regarding their $5 footlong promotion. They advertised that it was valid for "Any footlong" but if you went into the subway you'd find that about if of the sandwiches were "specialty footlongs" and not part of the offer

It must be the difference. For me, when I get Subway, it's as fresh as it could be, as if I just bought it myself from a supermarket and sliced it all up. Nothing "dehydrated" about it.

Maybe I don't have an accurate point of view since I live in a dry state (Colorado) but I assume their veggies spend a lot of time in a fridge, so it shouldn't really matter. Are you in a humid place?

I think Calgary's more known for being dry than humid
