Let the students think for themselves, they are not children. It's like a bunch of feminists got together and thought what would be a great idea to spread cancerous propaganda in my college campus. Every time I pass by those posters, they are annoying. I kept trying to figure out one of the reasons why people act so apprehensive, judgemental, unfriendly, cautious. We do not live in a country filled with terrorism, but people are way too on edge. I see a lot of pressure on these students lately... There's never been posters for this kind of crap on college campuses in the past 100 years?? This new age of thinking is ridiculous and non-constructive. I been told "Big Brother" is watching, let em watch and do what they want. My bad for speaking out against the current social constructs that i don't like.

I've heard from several staff members that the rates of people dropping out, or getting bad scores is increasing. We have to look at the inner workings and how the college and staff treat the mind of a student. An individual who is vulnerable and subject to change, who is easily molded into the social construct their environments provides them with. If the environment is horrible then it will produce un-optimal human beings fit for survival, if the environment is good, then happiness and survival is more insured.

yeah it's so terrible that colleges should send the message that they will not tolerate sexual harassment on campus.

Well it might be because college students are disproportunately more vulnerable to sexual assault than others, to the point where people on both sides of the aisle have recognized it as a problem, but sure. Femanazis. Whatever makes you feel like you have a big dick.

You really think we should let students "think for themselves" whether or not they feel like sexually harassing people =/

I also don't know if TC himself went to college or why he considers sexual assault education to be "cancerous" lol

But freshmen, while they may be age 18 or up (and not all of them are) definitely do not all come to campus with some inherent baseline level of maturity. Some of them do act like children, or have varying levels of knowledge or beliefs. Some of this shit should be "common sense" but then we find people raping folks behind dumpsters in public sooo

Right before I graduated they tried to get me to do some title 9 online course thing that teaches me how to not rape people with really patronizing questions like 'Suzy has had two drinks and Mark tries to make out with her against her consent, is this okay?'

I emailed the office that sent it to me and I'm like, "Wtf is this?" and they said I needed it if I wanted to graduate.

Then I just never took it and nothing happened.

They're actually not, though. You seem to have "college students" confused with "inmates" because that's literally the only time when rape culture is more than fantasy. If we're talking about places with actual vulnerability, you have prison, you have South Africa, you have any number of developing nations including India, but liberal American campuses don't even come close to being on that list.

Posters on harassment have no relation to rape. If there's touching involved, it could be classified as assault but that's *still* not rape.

they actually are though. lots of dumb socially-inexperienced kids experiencing true freedom from parents/guardians for the first time, plenty of alcohol/substance use. basically only a complete idiot would think that there isn't an elevated occurrence of crossed lines with respect to sexual situations as compared to the general american public.

having to invoke literal third-world shitholes as counter-examples is basically admission of having no real argument

Yeah. We used to live near a university, and my mom would rent our spare rooms to students (we had about 6 of them, it was a big house). The shit they thought was 'ok' boggled my ten year old mind.

So where I'm coming down on this issue is that yes, enough of them need to be told. Not all of them, maybe not even most of them, but enough do that it should be considered routine.

They're stupid and pointless, but they make people feel like they're accomplishing something and may even just be there for legal reasons, so just let them hang their little posters.

A little research goes a long way bucko. Two men saw him raping her, grabbed him before he could run away (well actually they tackled his filthy ass and held him to the ground), then called the police.

He lied, you twit. That's what people who know they've got a noose around their neck do, they lie.

Who are you gonna believe, the two witnesses, Carl-Fredrik Arndt and Peter Jonsson, who both testified against him, or the person who was on trial and is gonna say whatever it takes to save his spoiled little ass. This was as open and shut as rape cases get.

And once again, STICKING THINGS IN AN UNCONCIOUS WOMAN IS RAPE. Or at least it is as good as rape.

What he was convicted for, unanimously by a jury, were three felony charges: 1) assault with intent to commit rape of an intoxicated or unconscious person, 2) sexual penetration of an intoxicated person and 3) sexual penetration of an unconscious person.

The Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network defines sexual assault as "unwanted sexual contact that stops short of rape or attempted rape. This includes sexual touching and fondling." Sexual assault takes many forms including attacks such as rape or attempted rape, as well as any unwanted sexual contact or threats.

There are a lot of things that are 'annoying but ultimately harmless' that still shouldn't be tolerated in society.

At best, the thing was a waste of my time. I spent 10 minutes going through their 'lectures' and questions and the little slider told me I was still only 10% of the way through it. I'm not spending almost two hours taking this shit.

I also find it a little insulting. I know what rape is. Rapists know what rape is. A slideshow isn't going to convince them not to rape.

That said, I'm not about to go on a crusade against it because it's not worth the effort. If they had tried to withhold my diploma or something, it might be a different story.
