As a huge DBZ fan, it's my honest opinion.

Super just has nothing going for it imo. Not the story, not the lore, not the fights and animation, just nothing. I know dbz had some asspulls throughout the story but they are NOTHING compared to what super does. Nothing makes sense, every character is butchered beyond recognition and to top it all off the animation quality and fight choreography is dogshit.

I stopped watching near the start of the current tournament.

I'm kind of wondering why they didn't use Super as a catalyst to introduce some of the characters presented in GT, since the introduction of a multi-verse now technically allows for different versions of the same characters to exist.

GT gets a lot of hate from some fans for it not being considered canon, but there are still just as many fans who do like the concepts and characters introduced in GT, such as SSJ4, Baby, and Syn Shenron, so I'm not fully privy to the licensing issues and rights that Toei may or may not have in regard to that, but if they weren't an obstacle, many fans would have liked the things introduced in GT to have somehow been carried over to Super.

nope, nothing comes close in tone and tension to those sagas. The more serious of the super sagas is a hilarious clusterfuck and for spoiler reasons I won't say here has no actual tension because nobody is ever in any actual danger.

Vegeta and the rest of the saiyans was a warrior who got pleasure from fighting. Saiyans conquered planets for frieza to sell, there was never indication that they raped or pillaged.

It starts off real slow. First two arcs are just a recap of the movies.

Without spoiling the rest, the third arc is where it starts introducing new lore and interesting characters. It ups the fights and tension.

The later arcs are REALLY good compared to the first two. New villains, whole universes revealed, and they are using characters who were sidelined in Z.

But I have to admit the writing has gone downhill in terms of continuity and making sense. Something like gunshots can now harm Goku while in Dragonball, when Goku was a kid, he could take bullets to head and not be phased. That's the biggest issue for me.

Also the animation early on is bad as well. But the new universe survival arc is a massive improvement.

All in all, if you're a fan then its definitely worth a watch. Tons better than GT

Dragonball Super isn't Z. Don't go in expecting a repeat of Z with the poor pacing and the crazy power ups and generic doomsday villains. People get upset they can't debate powerlevels anymore. It's been focusing on actually trying to make everyone but, Goku and Vegeta relevant. Even Yamcha does something for once. Yamcha! I mean it's not perfect and the writing can be shit at times and trying to think about PLs will make your head hurt. The only thing set in stone is: Beerus is STILL miles ahead of Goku in terms of power.

If you really must at least watch Episode 72 The Baseball Episode. Hands down the best episode of any.

Or he's lying. Super is pretty damn good. It was rough at start but, it's come into it's own.

Theres never been any tension whatsoever with the dragonballs. What difference does it make? The last arc was amazing because, the villain was so crazy evil. He actually made Goku go berserk with rage. by taunting him about he murdered Goku's family in coldblood.

We see SSB Vegito actually fight!

Oh and y'know the whole bleak ending.

Cell died a virgin, and got defeated by a 9-year-old boy.

Cell is the real loser in DBZ.

How anyone can defend the goku black arc is beyond me tbh.

The fact that goku and vegeta go to the future, get defeated and run away, then go back to the future, get defeated and run away, then go back to the future again is just the worst story progression I've ever seen. There's soooo much tension when the story takes place in an alternate timeline nobody cares about and you can just run away whenever you're in toruble.

At this point they "win" except wait not really because of apparently zamasu is suddenly a god except wait goku pulls the "get me out of this clusterfuck button" that destroys the entire universe (whilst creating a new one?? Now with 2 Trunks?? WTF?). Not even going to mention trunkss ridiculous asspull transformation that made him stronger than goku and vegeta or how much the powerlevels fluctuated throughout the arc. Is goku or vegeta stronger than black? Nobody knows, it's completely arbitrary. Both of them win and lose at one point or another. Oh and although zamasu is at a laughable level weaker than a ssj2 he can somehow touch people who are a power magnitude so beyond that it's absurd. Oh and also getting stabbed does nothing.

It's literally the worst written anime arc I've ever watched.

Out of everything there, Goku not meeting 17 is the most believable when you consider that whole android arc Goku was dealing with the heart thing. By the time he was cured and showed up for the action Cell had already absorbed 17. After the Cell games, when 17 is back, Goku would have no reason to meet him because he isn't a threat or a challenge for a fight.

yeah @evoL_nekorB I would highly disagree with Link HT as well, Dragonball Super was only below average during the first arc and continuing into parts of the Golden Frieza arc but that's because they were rushed animation wise

BUT you have 2 great movies you can watch instead, after GF they got a bigger workforce and the show has been amazing the Zamasu arc is one of the best sagas in the entire series imo. Plus the Japanese BluRay/English dub release has gone and touched up some animation so that's no longer a problem either

There's a guy on twitter who edited of all the best scenes/animations from the Frieza movie and retouched Frieza arc and combined it into a great fan edit as well
