Usually I'm prompt about my bedtime. In bed by 11:30, asleep by 11:45 (maybe midnight at the latest). Alarm set for 7:50 or 7:55, depending on if I make breakfast at home or if I stop at Panera. So I'm looking at roughly 8 hours a night.

Last night, I was a bit sleepy. So I was in bed around 11, and I'm pretty sure I fell right asleep. So I got close to 9 hours last night.

Now, it's 11:15AM, I've already had my normal amount of coffee (an espresso shot every morning), and I'm still feeling a bit eyelid-heavy. I'm usually wide awake by 10 or so.

Did I sleep too much?

No, you didn't. This topic sounds like you're just trying to brag about how you can afford fancy espresso shots EVERY day and eat at Panera.

To the first two posts: Thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

Well, I surely didn't intend to come across that way, but if you want to see what isn't there, then go for it. Either way, the beauty of being an adult with a full-time job and disposable income is that, yes, I can afford an espresso machine (which is not that expensive), and I can spare a few bucks and a few minutes to get a sandwich at Panera for breakfast.

Opinions will be opinions, regarding Panera's taste, I suppose. As for the last 3 words - I already stated, "depending on if I make breakfast. So, the implication to those older than 3rd grade is that I already know how to cook. Sometimes I don't have groceries. Sometimes I want the extra five minutes of sleep.

Um, espresso machines (not the shit you buy at Target) are $1000+.

Are you saying you're rocking a Target espresso machine? LoLxz

Jesus christ man, maybe if you're trying to buy one for an espresso bar or something.

I bought this:

https://www.nespresso.com/us/en/order/machines/original/bundle-pixie-d60-dark-red-and-aeroccino-plus

The total (before tax) was $279. But that included a milk frother and a good chunk of espresso pods to get me started. If you look at the machine itself, it's $199. And there are cheaper models too.

It was a one time purchase for the machine starter pack. Then I ran out of the starter set of capsules they gave me, so I bought this:

https://www.nespresso.com/us/en/order/capsules/original/ol-indulgent-pack

$108.30 for 150 capsules. That's less than a dollar per espresso. The thing has already paid for itself since I got it.

So, again, wasn't trying to show anything off. But since you asked, I answered.

It's pretty much been scientifically implied that sleeping too long is actually worse for your health than not getting enough sleep, so yes.

8 hours seems to be the golden mean. Anything too much more or less than that is bad for you.

(Also, as a related aside, "catching up" on sleep is and has always been bullshit. You can't "make up for" lost sleep by sleeping longer on weekends, nor can you "store up" sleep in advance. That's not how the human body works.)

I could use a list of people like that. The name "Kyuubi" doesn't mean anything to me lolol. Someone should make a PotD database of every user and "who they are" (i.e. known trolls, Duckbear shitposters, etc.)

Do they not enforce all caps posts here? O__o

Or did you use a lower-case L in place of an uppercase "i"?

The body gets used to the level of activity it is currently being forced to do. If you sleep too much, your body can get used to not moving, which makes it harder for you to start moving again. If you keep it up, you'll also get out of shape and then REALLY have a hard time moving etc.

I think your brain can also kinda get used to the lack of stimulation as well, so it's not just a physical thing either.

The worst thing though is getting too tired to actually sleep!! That can happen as well, where you go past being tired to a point where you just can't seem to get to sleep anymore. Least that has not happened to me for a very very long time.

When I was young though if I drank coffee in the morning after working a graveyard shift, I could reach that point pretty easy and not be able to fall asleep before I had to go to my vocational school for the day. Wasn't bad for a day or two, but after two days of no sleep my bones would feel kinda hollow or ache I guess.
