I just read an article that they have a severe shortage of STEM workers. I bet it would be fairly easy to get a job there since nobody wants to live in North Dakota. The downside would be that I'd have to live in North Dakota

I'm actually considering the same thing for logistics positions. My dad is a civil engineer that flies up there every week and he says it sucks.

I imagine a lot of their engineering positions are just the oil and gas industry, though, and that's not something I'm interested in. I was just skimming over some jobs and that's what it looked like, but I wasn't looking in serious detail

I was just skimming over some jobs and that's what it looked like, but I wasn't looking in serious detail That's the industry Im looking at for logistics. My old man is a defense contractor now, though, so he deals with construction on some Air Force base up there. From what I've been told the oil industry is what's hot up there now anyway so that's pretty much the only option. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I lived in Bismarck for 7 years, I moved just before the whole oil boom thing, the city is so different now. It actually has modern shit in it for once. I think the mall still sucks though.

North Damota doesn't actually exist, it's just put there on maps to bridge the gap between Montana and Minnesota.

be careful about that place. You really want to base your livelihood on an industry that half of the country is trying to get shut down? American oil is volatile. you'll probably be good to go until the next midterm election. and if trump loss in four years, i say get the hell out of dodge. whatever money you make, and there is good money to make, save it. dont spend it. you may need some of it to relocate if the industry or your company folds in the future
