It took me awhile to get into Breaking Bad, I didn't really get hooked until the fifth or sixth episode. So I'm... guessing this show gets better, but I'm still not sold that Saul (of all the interesting characters in Breaking Bad) is the best character to base an entire show on and what I'm seeing right now in these episodes is making me like the character of Saul less and less.

Breaking Bad had incredible pacing and timing , yet this show just sort of plods along boringly so far.

Very well done show

Its not all about Saul as other characters from BB show up, are given a story etc

Its one of the very few downsides from cancelling cable/satellite tv, I either have to wait for it on Netflix or brave the in-laws and watch over there :P

It's a great show. It may not be on Breaking Bad's level, but it doesn't have to be tied for the greatest television show of all time to be great.

I loved Breaking Bad until the last couple of seasons when it started to get kind of stupid ("magnets, bitch!"). I don't expect it to be exactly the same as its predecessor but the pacing of this is just glacial and there's a lot of Tarantinoing going on.

Better Call Saul is still very good.

Not every moment has to be bustling with energy/intrigue/high-stakes/plot. The way the show characterizes things and how they present them, is still top notch.

Very few American TV shows present drama like Better Call Saul does, because they can't sell a "boring" show. The success of Breaking Bad is the reason why they can take their style in this direction.

Imagine thinking "magnets, bitch!" is a valid reason to not like a show. Also, there were only 4 seasons, so the "last couple seasons" is half the series.

It's certainly not easy being a voice of reason. You're better off just telling people what they like to hear if you want to live a nice, warm, comfortable life. But I'm not a delicate egg in need of an incubator so I would rather engage than passively accept things.

There's five seasons.

They pulled a Sopranos and the last season was this split up mega season. But yeah if you want to get specific Season 5 is when the show started to get sloppy. Not consistently, there were great episodes and moments within it... but there was heaping amounts of stupid in them too.

Mike just so happens to know the exact place to put a magnet to destroy the computer that the cops conveniently didn't search for some reason. There's like one cop guarding the place where all the drug lord's information is at. They get away wearing stereotypical bandit clothes that anyone would spot them in. It was a good idea and realistic to think that Gus left some shit behind but they really wrote themselves into a corner with it. Implausibility, bitch!

If you aren't hooked by the season 1 finale, it probably isn't for you.

Yeah I'm still going to give it a chance. Honestly it has the reverse problem that Breaking Bad had for me - Breaking Bad threw so much shit at you in the very first scene and you're just like... what the fuck? This one barely gives you much of anything to get rolling.

I wish it was set after Breaking Bad and not before too. I'm not a huge fan of the whole premise of prequels - if something was enjoyable before knowing an extensive backstory, then why is the extensive backstory even necessary? Plus then there's a lot of work put into making things align with what follows after - which means a lot of the fun is taken out and the possibilities of where the show can go are limited.

To be fair, the entire show isn't supposed to be a prequel; we are eventually going to get to the Saul Goodman of Breaking Bad and we may even get to see what happens to Cinnabon manager Gene after that.

Absolutely none of that is implausible except for the giant magnet.

Just so you know, it can take MONTHS to get evidence through a lab to be processed no matter how high profile the case. As a government building being paid for by the tax payers, I'm fairly certain that's public information. But even if it wasn't, it really wouldn't be that hard to figure out. Especially considering Mike and the guys had been in and out of that place a number of times. And the clothes? That's really a problem to you?

You can literally just google "police department floor plans" and get a bunch of results like I just did. Given that this is a FICTIONAL universe, it's not implausible for them to get the floor plans. Hell, they could have just paid off a clerk in the planning office. A local police station isn't exactly fort knox. Also, you're forgetting that Mike himself was a cop for many years.
