I have no idea why people like this thing so much.
It's a dragonfly dragon, what's not to like?
That said, I used to like it a lot more, most of it's line in fact, before I realized I was being insane and that Flygon was ten times better. Still <3 it though.
but there's nothing about it to me that screams 'badass' or 'cute' like other pokemon do. it's just...there. and for some reason people seem to love it. >_>

But yeah, it's largely a matter of taste. When I was skeptical of the Gen V lineup, Scolipede was the first to jump out at me because I love the concept of large bugs (and love large Pokemon in general), and it's basically a chubby looking centipede crossed with a horse. I was an instant favorite, and ever since having one on my team in White, it's been solidly my fourth favorite of all.
Not a lot of Dragon types out there and while theres obviously some Dragons I love, I do get tired of a bunch of them being so strong/liked by other people. Its hard to get excited when nearly every fully evolved of this type is overall base 600 and I have to see its face everywhere. I get that theyre supposed to be strong and hard to raise. But not a lot of them really strike me as epic/majestic like you would think dragons would. Also I think a lot of dragons are kind of ugly. And theres not a lot of them in the first place! A lot of them are legendaries also which Im not terribly fond of either. Call it elitism/hipsterism/whatever you want but as a type, dragon falls behind a lot of the others for me.
#14: Bug
I dont like bugs in real life and Im not sure a lot of people do. But its funny how Poke-fied versions of some bugs are really cool. Preferred type of the deadliest kind of trainer, the Bug Catcher, the type was famous for being the only typing Super Effective against the almighty Psychic types in Gen I. The problem was that the strongest Bug move was Twineedle. And carrying a lineup of three Caterpies, a Metapod and two Weedles didnt help either. Thankfully later gens fixed this with Megahorn and Bug Buzz/X-Scissor further on. Theres really only a handful of Bug types I like enough to include in my overall top Pokemon lists though but its not because theyre bugs or anything.

I have not read the writeup for this, but you best have something great to justify it, like a dragon buttraped your sister and then set your dog on fire for the hell of it. Otherwise this is bad and you should feel bad.
Maybe if there were more dragons and you didn't have all the in-game, self-proclaimed "dragon masters" stacking their teams up with pseudo-dragons just to fill out six spaces, they would be up higher. I'm just saying.
Three Dragonites.
