surprise of the year so far: the new om album is like, really good. loads of violin, cello and piano swirling around, and they sound like a whole different band (which i guess they are since haikus left)
first worthwhile thing they've done since conference of the birds in my opinion
Yesterday I rolled and went to the first day of Wavefront, a dance music festival in Chicago. It was awesome. Here's the lineup: http://www.wavefrontmusicfestival.com/
Of those, I saw Art Department, Bad Boy Bill, Matthew Dear, MSTRKRFT, and Boys Noize. The last three all killed it.
so i was using my subscriber status to listen through some of your libraries (before i got banned lol) and found a lot of great new songs, and giggs had by far the most strange blend of tracks
I've been using WeAreHunted to keep track of my favorite songs of this year. If you guys want feel free to poke around and tell me if you find anything you like
one of my favorite bands just broke up. for some reason, even though all 3 of their releases have been met with widespread acclaim(their most recent being a solid 9.5), Girls broke up :(
Anywho, I'm listening to this Cloud Nothings album and holy crap.

man vincent i hate you. . . . . .. . yes you will be getting a request from a new account, the mods there are terrible. got banned for complaining about how poorly the site was being run and the problem i was complaining about literally got fixed the next day -_-
yea i've had a couple of friends on there banned for complaining about some features or what not, it's why I almost never post in shoutboxes/forums on there anymore. (that and the Radiohead shoutbox for example just wasn't fun anymore post 2007)
Ohnomite is becoming my favorite rap album of the year so far but there's a lot I need to get still. Clams Casino's second instrumentals is creamy and sweet.
well giggs it probably shouldn't have been banned, since all i really did was ask for the ability for uploading images to be reenabled. . .okay i may have through a few insults in there but still wasn't ban worthy. oh well who knows we may not be able to upload images if it weren't for that complaint so i'll go with that!
also about that clams tape, it's a shame that mac miller gets extremely great beats but doesn't know how to use them.
the best thing about the album is that he uses the playstation 1 start-up tune to open the album. this is an informed opinion from someone who has only listened to the first four songs so far.
it's also the first thing i've listened to in the last three weeks that wasn't recordings of lectures, podcasts, cat power's "ruin" or tomas barfod's "november skies"

actually that's not correct. i also listened to tom waits last night on letterman (monday's premiere performance) and this - - which is something i'm really excited about

yeah that was probably my favourite of the bunch. really nice album, at "end" right now. not sure if i'm on board with some of the superlatives thrown at this, but it's much better and more consistent than nostalgia even if it lacks "novacane."
it'll be a crime if this album isn't pressed on orange vinyl

really? from '96-'03 she had few peers. she fell off significantly after you are free, personally and professionally, but still had a few good songs spread out over the greatest and some guest appearances. i couldn't get enough of her in high school. she's one of the artists responsible for my deeper exploration of music and was something one of my best friend and i bonded over. hell, cat power even made me like wonderwall! she's a really significant artist in my life.

frank's lyrics are really juvenile but i don't think what he's saying is as important as the way he's saying it. there's no brilliance on display there.
i could live without hearing another oasis song and die happy. chan's great at deconstructing a song and making it her own. it's why her covers record is so good - especially her version of "satisfaction" - and why i really enjoy her peels sessions.

continuing this week's run of good-to-great albums, the new nas is great. unless there's a significant dip in quality from the last five songs, this could be his best since it was written.
