Elective Mode is the ability to change which skills go onto which hotkey and, much more importantly, allows the player to select more than one skill from an assigned category for use at the same time. So basically a bunch of people who don't know what credit card fraud is?
It's unfortunate, but maybe if they take the incentive away from hackers to (1) Steal credit card info and buy D3 (2) Grind the game as much as they can, transferring all gold and valuable mats/items to their main until the account is banned. (3) Repeat steps 1-2
Damn, I'm already struggling in Hell A1. Just barely survived a Invulnerable Minions/Frozen/Molten pack of Spiders in the Caverns of Araneae with my lvl 52 WD. That spells bad, bad things for Inferno.
On another note, bosses are just so much easier than elites/champions.

I do have a suggestion for people who are above level 45.
When you are looking for upgrades on the AH, LOOK FOR LEVEL 60 ITEMS
Just make sure you sort for items that have "reduced level requirement" by enough on them that you will be allowed to wear them.
Solfadore's post is what made me think of it, and maybe he isn't even buying on the AH too much, but if he is and if he's sorting for "level 52" and lower items the level 60 items will NOT show up even if they have "level requirement reduced by 8" on them. You have to actually sort for 60 items with that specific item stat yourself.
But you can probably find "bad" level 60 items that are actually a huge upgrade for fairly cheap.
That is actually a great suggestion! I'll have to keep that in mind when I upgrade my gear for Act 2 (I normally do it once per difficulty, but A2 will just be tedious if I don't switch things around). Thanks, FD.

It's something I wish I knew my first time through, although there probably weren't many "level requirement reduced by 14" gear even on the AH yet at that point. But now I'm sure there is enough available to drive the price on the mediocre 60 gear way down.
The lower level is especially handy for weapons... don't really notice it too much on armor, but man is it nice rocking around a 750 dpser at level 50. Leveled a DH to 60 and my barb is at 54 right now, pretty much just destroy everything once you get one of those weapons.
Currently stuck on Inferno Ghom... pretty rough fight. I'm in dire need of some life on hit, so it looks like some farming is in the works. Least I roll a2 no problem now. I see what that guy was talking about when he said Inferno Belial tickles now -- except for the globes, those still annihilate me (ran a couple of friends through a2)

Act 2 in the Desert is legitimately the worst thing in the world for my Witch Doctor. I try and kite an elite pack of Mortar/Jailer and up pops WASPS and then those friggin monsters that leap over my Unbreakable Grasp. So I run from those and I run into a pack of bugs and before it's all said and done I've got 30 mobs on me.
I switched over to Monk and this same area was a cakewalk.
So to Red/Solf what skills did you guys do when leveling up? Everyone says to use Vision Quest and spam Toads but that is just so damn boring. I picked Witch Doctor because they have so many cool moves but the only thing I ever see is
A.Splinters Builds with 5 Defensive Skills for kiting B.Vision Quest and spamming Bears or Plague of Toads Tanking
Like, Acid Rain and Fire Bats are sweet, but you cast it 3-4 times and you're OOM and your kiting moves still cost a good amount of mana as does Plague of Toads. It just seems like the mana costs are ungodly high for the one class that has no resource generator.*
*Wizard's source regens pretty fast and one of their spammable moves has no costs.

Thanks FD, we'll run it some time. I tabbed over to the game after posting and didn't check back until just now. I actually ended up just farming the Butcher for a while. I didn't need the gear too badly, but I wanted to accumulate some gold for repairs and I wanted to get a little better adjusted to inferno in general with a level I knew I could handle.

I know you didn't ask me but a fun build I've been using is zombie dogs, sacrifice, fetish ambush, soul harvest, and that passive that ups your damage at the price of increased mana costs (since I barely use mana)
I'm not sure it's completely viable but it's fun and at least viable through a2 hell to some extent. Basically the big issue is you don't want to face elite packs when your fetish ambush isn't up (this is slightly less a problem once you have the cooldown reduction on nearby kills passive-- but I don't have enough gold pickup radius to make this work really well yet0. Not sure I recommend it I'm just saying people exist that don't use those two Witch Doctor builds <_<
I will make sacrificing dogs work. Lord Montezuma demands sacrifices it is the Aztec way.

I just don't remember adding him is all. Haven't really truly started using my Battle.Net account except for D3. I've always had it but it was mostly just a "download Wc3 when I reformat and/or lose my discs" device before.

Weird, I never really had problems with Nightmare (aside from the last fight which gave me a run for my money). Back in NM, I think I ran a Splinter Darts/Dire Bats/Life Link Dogs/Siphon Harvest/Jaunt Walk/Restless Gargantuan set. Dogs had no survivability, but were useful for drawing aggro away. One thing I like to do is to move in the center of a big pack of enemies, and combo Soul Harvest and Spirit Walk. That means three seconds of invincibility and increased damage, and thus Bats galore. Obviously, doing this in Inferno is a very bad idea, but it works well for Nightmare. Darts are also very useful after the Soul Harvest boost.
Soul Harvest and Spirit Walk are a must against Lacuni (jumping enemies). The second they jump next to you, you Harvest/Walk, let them hit your clone, and proceed to pummel them with bats. Or you just run away behind your Gargantuan and throw Darts from afar.

I'm only halfway through Act 1 with her, but I'm not feeling Witch Doctor so far. She probably gets better, but I was having more fun with Demon Hunter and Monk at this point already.
Development Hell is a dungeon that randomly spawns as one of the crypts in the cemetery apparently. You get a feat of strength killing the Guy who designed the game.

Oh SuperNiceDog's doing it again dude. SuperNiceDog, you ain't no pimp dude
I have to say that, so far, my least favorite elite to fight is a group of 3 mortar guys that also have those goddamn crystals that shoot the rotating beams.
THey bug the s*** out of me.

yeah those are Arcane Enhanced (or Enchanted? not sure) and I almost got killed by one of those beams AFTER I killed them all and I had full health and didn't bother to get out of the way, thinking I wouldn't take much damage I was wrong. I took much damage. It's a pain in the ass when those guys are Frozen too. Lots of bulls*** to run from and getting frozen in place means possibly getting hit by beams too >_<
temporarily gave up on my DH. Workinng on a wizard now (Lvl 45, act 3 nm). Everything was going smoothly until my internet decided to start being a dick yesterday and today (f***ing cable modem is resetting itself sometimes for no reason and getting me disconnected)

So, what's the preferred primary attack for a monk?
I'm currently using crippling wave w/ the concussion rune. I figured, hey an aoe attack that slows enemy movement by 30%, attack speed by 20% and giving them a -20% damage dealt debuff.....
That's all good stuff, right? lol.

You know that very first rune you got on Fist of Thunder? The Thunderclap?
Yeah, you'll be using that for pretty much the game. Transcendence makes any damage done to you a joke so crippling wave isn't needed.
Though if you really like the damage reduction you can put FoT on the Left Click and Crippling on the right and do 2 clicks of FoT and then finish it with Crippling Wave.
