Yeah, I've always loved the way Winnie the Pooh was presented. The narrator is fantastic, and the way the characters (namely Pooh) interact with the narrator and the book setting really does make the flow of the story seem like a cohesive whole.

Yeah Bagheera rules as the narrator. I'm glad they chose him. His dignified voice just fit the role perfectly.

I'm only now realizing that the narrator from Winnie the Pooh is Bagheera.

You just wrinkled my brain.

Awww, hoping it was higher, but yeah...Winnie the Pooh DOMINATED my childhood. Doc is like my doppelganger in Disney :D

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Doc's Ranking: 10/51
Karo's Ranking: 18/49

The beginning point for some of Disney's most iconic characters, this movie is actually three previously released shorts with new material to link them all together. Nearly all the characters are top notch (though I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that), as are the songs. The unique animation style that was used is very reminiscent of the book's original illustrations.
This movie exudes a simple charm that makes it work despite having no overlying plot, villain, etc.
Only the somewhat disconcerting package format keeps this movie from being any higher on the list, it's absolutely amazing otherwise.

Best Character: Tigger

C'mon, how could anyone not like Tigger? He's the best out of an amazing cast of characters. Eeyore the emo donkey is a close second.

Worst Character: Kanga

She's just bland, boring, and has no personality. A shame, as Pooh's world is rather short on female characters.

Good placement for this. As I said before, Pooh is all about characters and not really about story. In my own opinion, it would be a bit hard to rank this much higher due to all the great stories still left to be ranked.

That's pretty much the exact reasoning I had when I ranked it. There are too many amazing, singular stories left.

That's too bad. We had just about the entire collection of films and tv episodes growing up and I would watch them all the time. One of the most terrible days in my life was when I discovered my parents had sold our collection in a garage sale (or lent them to my cousin - it's still not clear). I will certainly track them down one day just so I can introduce them to my future children.

I love to see as many of these as possible! I'll be doing my own once Wreck-It Ralph is out.

Sooo....just got back from Beauty and the Beast - the musical.

WOOOOOOOOOW

A-ma-ZING!

Gaston was hilarious. Him and Lumiere translate so well on stage. They can be as bombastic and flamboyant as they like. The Beast was funny as well. Great humour throughout. Effects were stunning, songs always great, and of course...the one and only...
BELLE!

The best.

Ahhh I'm jealous. That sounds incredible. Did it follow the Disney version exactly or were there some extra scenes or songs?

I just checked the tour schedule and it's not coming to Seattle. The closest performance is in Sacramento. :(

It was great. Gaston has more room to be his hammy self, showcasing his biceps and posing for the audience. He had these sideburns, and his mannerisms were like Johnny Bravo's. Even doing the "Hoo-Hah!" at times. The song itself was great. Everybody singing and dancing, and clinking their beer steins in unison. Definitely a highlight. Perhaps if Gen saw it, she might even warm up to Gaston (song AND character) ;P

Awww, that's a shame. You would have loved it.

There were new songs and scenes. Some things had to be simplified, shifted around a bit, or omitted to be suitable for the stage, but the core stuff from the film was the same. Gave more dialogue to the side characters, and tons more humour which derived from the way the actors sold it. Fantastic all around.

No, it was actually at a local community theater. I was also in Aladdin with them, in which I played Razoul (the head guard).

Oh cool. I didn't think community theaters did cool stuff like Disney. I usually expect Shakespeare or some kind of Jesus thing when I think community theater.
