Comcast screwed me over a few months ago and I dropped my cable plan.

Now my screen watching consist of Netflix, streaming, and Red Box. It's better and saves a heck of a lot of money. All I need is a tower and my HD monitor.

I know I'm not the first genius to think this up, but none of my friends have caught on or are interested in catching on.

I stopped watching tv altogether around 2001, except the now too rare documentary that actually teaches me new things.

There's a certain charm in the lack of effort required for TV. Like I think netflix and the like are better but they're not quite the same thing as just watching TV.

I don't have cable but I might consider getting it at some point.

I occasionally watch shows live because I live with my parents and they are the ones paying for cable, but I still use netflix and stuff way more.

Just Sportscenter when I eat breakfast and dinner.

I watch everything on Demand through catch-up if I want to watch my show. Can't stand commercials!

My cable company (who control both the internet and cable tv in the area) recently instituted data limits to try and lessen Netflix and other streaming from their customers, keeping them attached to cable tv as much as possible.

Fun times.

I knew there was a good reason I mixed cable and internet providers.

I'm glad the board has sense. My friends need to get with the program (even though I only got with the program a little while ago).

I watch shows on broadcast TV, since that's free. Everything else is Netflix, Hulu, or "ways".

I still watch a couple shows on tv. As far as I know you get your new episodes faster still unless some other services can somehow air them before they air on tv.

The way I always break it down is that whether or not ditching cable/satellite is something you should do comes down to sports.

If you're a big sports fan, keep them. Yes ESPN streams their stuff to ESPN3, but other networks don't without buying individual sports plans that are super expensive (and often have local blackouts to boot). It's still far more convenient to have cable if you are in any way a sports person.

If you're not, then forget it. Get an antenna for your TV to pick up ABC/CBS/NBC/Fox/CW/PBS for free, subscribe to Netflix and Hulu Plus, and have at it. Bonus points if your TV has internet apps or if you can connect your computer to your TV.

Cable is included in my rent so obviously I have it. I still use it for a number of things like Raw and PPVs, and I need premium channels for shows like Dexter, Shameless, and Game of Thrones (as far as I know you still need to get the channels on cable to get things like HBO GO). And I don't really like HD antennas so I would rather have cable for broadcast stuff like sports, plus not all the sports I want to watch are on network channels anyway. There's still MNF on ESPN, hockey games on NBC Sports, and things like that. Also it's good to have TV viewing capabilities that don't use up my internet bandwidth for times when I need more than one thing at once, like if my son wants to watch Sesame Street while I'm on a video chat with my friends.

I mean sure, I could illegally download or stream most of this stuff, but I could steal pretty much anything I spend money on and I don't, so I don't see why I should steal TV.

I pay for both interwebs and cable, and it's less than $100 a month even after the promotional rate expired. Pretty good deal, IMO.
