At any level would you say that with no prior knowledge of the quality of something, you can say that a certain person being in it will make you want to watch it? I try to think of myself as being above this sort of thing, as I typically can't think of 5+ films that most of the biggest actors around have been in, but right now I'm so enamored with Dr. Who that I think I'd watch anything with David Tennant or Matt Smith in it.

I mostly only started watching Touch because of Keifer Sutherland.

And while I haven't actually watched it at all, if I were going to give Person of Interest a shot, it would be because of Michael Emerson.

I mean I definitely have favourite actors and actresses, but I haven't seen all of their films.

I will certainly be much more inclined to watch it if someone I like very much is in it but nothing is ever a sure deal. Even the best of them are in **** sometimes.

I would be really interested in seeing someone who are really known for a single ongoing roles do something else just to see how they perform outside their normal setting (e.g. Michael C. Hall).

Not with actors. With directors though, yes.

Although I did see all of Harold Lloyd's movies, and he didn't generally direct any of his own, unlike Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. So I guess he'll be my answer.

Any time an Arrested Development cast member appears on a new TV series, I make an effort to watch it at least once or twice; even that dreadful "Retired at 35" show on TV Land, simply because of Jessica Walter.

Even Michael Cera? Not a bad policy otherwise though... Better Off Ted, Archer, I hear Running Wylde is pretty good.

I was about to say the completely opposite thing! I liked Running Wilde a lot, but I haven't really been able to stomach Up All Night. Which is sad, because I love all three leads (Arnett, Applegate, Rudolph)... but the writing is just so weak. I haven't seen it in a while though, so maybe it's gotten better.

As for Michael Cera... has he been in any other TV shows since AD? >_> I actually like his movies for the most part though. Scott Pilgrim and Youth in Revolt were good stuff!

I've never seen anything else Michael Emerson has been in (I guess Lost?) but he is absolutely incredible in Person of Interest so you should watch it.

He's probably one of the most hit or miss actors I've ever seen and it has absolutely nothing to do with him. He's the same guy in everything, so it all comes down other factors. Just running down his IMDB list, since AD...

Superbad (I didn't fall in love with it like every other person)
Juno (For some reason IMDB lists him as "famous for" this, but he was barely in it. Then again Jason Bateman was in it, so still counts for AD anyway)
Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (pretty meh overall)
Year One (didn't see it, but I doubt it was good)
Youth in Revolt (didn't see it, but I think people liked it)
Scott Pilgrim (pretty good)

I skipped the stuff I'm not familiar with, but this works well enough.

I still need to watch quite a few! So far, I've seen Safety Last!, Speedy, The Kid Brother, Hot Water and Dr. Jack. I believe that's it.

I've been falling behind on my movie watching these past few months, for some reason. I really should fix that.

You've seen my 2 favorites though! (Safety Last and Speedy). His talkies are mostly pretty good IMO (way better than Buster Keaton's). I especially like Feet First (it's finale is similar to Safety Last's) and Movie Crazy. Also Girl Shy and Why Worry are my 2 favorite silents of his you are missing. Although I really like most everything from Lloyd.

I had a huge down time last summer for my movie watching too. Are you feeling burnt out on them, or just haven't had time? Hopefully not burnt out, because you have some of the best taste on gamefaqs!

I've been really meaning to see those! I taped them on TCM, but shortly after, I had to replace the DVR. I haven't seen them on the network since. :\

Haha, thanks man! I haven't been burnt out, just short on time. But I've had some more time again lately, so I've been picking the habit back up. I just taped Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Adam's Rib and several others from TCM - gonna be watching them soon for sure!

I dunno if they really "seal the deal" but if an actor/actress that I like or respect is in a film it will definitely increase my chances of giving it a chance, by far. If it just sounds terrible or is something i know i won't care for then they won't really make me sit through it.
