Should I see them before Avengers?

You don't have to, but I'd say Captain America is more important to watch than The Incredible Hulk for story purposes.

You should watch both because they're pretty good movies, though.

I'm not big into Captain America, but you can't really have Avengers without him. I guess I can see if it's in the Redbox. I've owned Incredible Hulk for over a year, but just never bothered watching it.

Captain America is one of the best superheroes. And his movie was excellent, you should watch it.

I haven't seen the Incredible Hulk in a long time. I don't remember much of it, but I know it's pretty straight forward. Bruce Banner is the Hulk, he gets angry, he f***s s*** up, he tries to control it, blah blah. I don't think it's necessary to watch.

Honestly, Captain America wouldn't be either if you knew what his general origin was. It's still pretty straightforward. But it's a great movie.

I think watching Captain America first has the most impact on avengers. There is a very short flashback in the movie to a part from CA for example.

The movie explains everything well enough that you could go into it completely blind and love it though. Going into it informed just enhances the movie.

I'm in the same situation, think I'm gonna watch them both before I see the Avengers.

I never saw the 2003 Hulk movie either. I've heard it's terrible, but I think I'll watch that then the 2008 version for comparisons sake.

I haven't seen Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, or Avengers, but I will tell you that Captain America is an excellent standalone movie as it is, so definitely watch it.

The 2003 movie got rebooted as the 2008 one, because the 2003 movie is in legitimate running for the worst movie of all time. I would watch The Room 30 times before rewatching Hulk.

No.

Do not do that to yourself. Please.

Captain America and Thor are the most important before seeing the Avengers.

The others aren't needed, but the first of the Iron Man movies is really good. The others aren't bad, but Hulk pretty much adds the least to the experience. Iron Man 2 introduces Black Widow, and other than that you there really don't need anything from it except for some exposition on power sources and learning Tony's personality.

Heh, I'm like 25 minutes in out of like 2 hours and 12 minutes. I can already tell this is a bad movie. The acting is poorly timed, the dialogue is awkward, and I really dislike the way scenes and point of views are shifted >_>

But now that I'm on this ride I don't know if I can stop!

Captain America is a great movie and is sort of relevant to the Avengers plot beyond the Cap origin story.

I hadn't seen the Hulk either, and it doesn't seem like that was particularly important.

Yeah besides Cap's origin, Captain America also explains the origin of the MacGuffin that drives Avengers' plot, and its post-credits scene directly sets up Avengers.

I haven't seen Thor or Captain America, you don't need to see either of them to follow the movie, but there is a decent amount of stuff from both of them that ties into the Avengers plot. I'll probably go back and watch both to flesh out the plot a little more and because of the fact that I'm pretty sure there's going to be at least a sequel and it could matter there (among a few other reasons).

Also, I liked the 2003 Hulk movie better then the 2008, but the 2008 Hulk fits better with the Avengers.

I never watched Incredible Hulk and I managed Avengers fine.

Captain America does seem important story wise.
