I'm okay with the circle pad for 3D games, though I think it could be better, but it's not as precise as I want it to be at times. I think if they gave it a little more room to extend it would be better.
my biggest grievance with the 3ds design is those stupid little bumps on the bottom corners. i don't need to keep it slightly elevated when i put it down, and those things just dig into my hand!

i wonder what the redesign process is like at nintendo. they have to be like 'what were we thinking with this.' for the better, i guess, because they always end up with a great design.
they got it right the first time with the wii! and i think they're getting better with handhelds. the 3ds is a big step up from the original gba and ds phat, there are just a couple of design oversights. i don't know how they missed them though, there was plenty of time between the 3DS reveal at E3 and the eventual release.

Yeah, the Wii was great from the start. Also agree that despite the problems I have with it, it's still better than the original DS. That thing I don't even know.
eh, 3DS XL isn't meant to be an improved system as much as it is just a size option, like with DSi/DSi XL, and not actually considered as a full revision
I disagree there. Most of the impressions seem to indicate that this is a better version of the system in every way--3D working better, buttons feeling better, games looking more vibrant. I dunno, it's not a huge change, but I can't see any reason that it doesn't become the default 3DS.
Finally beat every level in Kid Icarus on 9.0. I wasn't even sure if I was going to try at first, but once I fused a good single-player weapon it wasn't that hard.
Chapter 18 is still confirmed for most annoying chapter in the game. Oddly enough, it wasn't the hardest level for me. That would be 20, which took me three tries, and all because of that weird flying segment. I hate how the bullets only hit the center of the screen in that one. Once I got past that it was much easier.

It didn't take long. It was just the natural extension of how I was playing through single-player normally. The patterns don't really change much between 7.0 to 9.0, just the damage, so I fused a strong and reliable weapon (Artillery Claws rock) with good defensive mods and just tried my best. I beat most of the stages in one try, and if I died, it was often because of something specific, so I'd simply change my power set and strategy to counter it. Basically, having a strong weapon and already having knowledge and experience of the levels helped a lot.

almost done with Rhythm Thief, i think. could be wrong! will know sometime tomorrow. this game has an identity crisis thus far; some segments are definitely something i'd expect in a rhythm game, others are what i'd expect in a mini game collection.
with that said, while a lot of things are easy early on i just got SLAMMED with one of the hardest things i've seen in the handheld ones. EBA's got nothing on the Feel The Magic/Rub Rabbits theme. that thing's crazy hard.
musically, this thing has been pretty great. yeah, some tunes aren't too impressive, but there's a lot of tunes in a lot of styles. jazz, classical, SALSA, and much, much more.
story's been good thus far. i expect it to get better. Phantom R has style out the ass though, and playing a thief with a dog is cool. also i'm still not sure of what to think of a mini detective with a soccer ball DEFENDING JUSTICE AND LAW with it and us... kicking it back and forth to establish superiority. no seriously, i've done this twice now. i'm sure it's a running theme.
with that said, i still ahve quite a bit to go. if i'm wrong on this being almost done then that's pretty great. it's both a pick up and play sort of game and a put it down for a while kinda game. tows a nice in between for most of the way.
Rhythm Thief > Theaterhythm as a game. no doubts on that. TR though, thus far, is a clearly superior rhythm game. we'll see soon how that goes.
edit: oh, and i'm prob the first person here with Heroes of Ruin. co-op dungeon crawler with good internet play.

Nintendo making incentives to purchasing digital versions of games
(japanland)
Those who download New Super Mario Bros. 2 or Onitore will receive a few bonuses.
If the purchase is made before September 2, consumers will receive Donkey Kong Original Edition through Club Nintendo. The Pie Factory stage is included in the title. Club Nintendo members will also be rewarded with twice the amount of points for their game registrations and an extra twenty points if both New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Onitore are downloaded.

Hold up, hold up. WHAT?
I'd seriously buy NSMB2 just for this. That's a huge deal, no joke - the only home edition of Donkey Kong that has that is on Donkey Kong 64. (DK '94 doesn't count)
