Robin Hood (2010) - 6.5/10

*SPOILERS*
- If I hadn't seen Scott Grimes when I started paying attention at least fifteen minutes in, I'dve been playing Xenoblade the past two hours. It was definitely a lot of fun to watch for the first hour. The Marian/Robin stuff moved wayyyyy too quickly as well as the story itself which apparently only took a few weeks. A few weeks for all the townships to burn, King John to go even crazier, and Russell Crowe to go from stockade to loved by all of England. Really, until that meeting for all the barons to come together happened at the same time as Nottingham got pillaged, it was a good movie. No, it was a great movie. But the last half was just... it was just bad. It was taking all the bad tropes from the past decade or so and just using them up. Of course Marian fights. Of course everyone joins together at the perfect time. Of course Robin is hailed and King John is jealous. Of course the arrow flies true. Of course blind Edward puts up a fight. Of course this all seems to happen in a manner of minutes and it's just Russell Crowe fightin' 'cross the world. I do like how it's a prequel to the usual story and it sets things up nicely, but it just feels way too compact and 'done to get out of the way' in the climax. All the fun was in the first half.

Best Scene: One of the Merry Men telling another that the best way to get a girl is to go after the homelier ones ala A Beautiful Mind.

The Cabinet of Dr. Caligeri
7.5

A good example of early German Expressionism, chock full of expressionist acting and cubist set design. The world felt vibrantly hectic and the acting fit the genre to a tee. That said, the version I watched had somewhat iffy choice in music and I felt like scenes tended to drag a bit even by GE standards, something which was taken care of by the time of Fritz Lang's "Metropolis", which didn't exactly feature shorter scenes but did more with them.

OH! I just realized that I watched Airplane! about two weeks ago.

Airplane! - 7.5/10

Good comedy flick a la Naked Gun style. It had its great moments of humour, but I expected even more from it. Some scenes seemed to drag down and lose time, like the scene just after the girls fought in the bar, it looked pointless to extend that scene for so long. Other times I was expecting something really funny to happen on the "serious" scenes, always expectant, but some other times I just burst out laughing with jokes that I never saw coming. Overall, it was a good movie and very funny to watch.

Eden Lake - 8.5/10

I haven't had such a bad time watching a horror movie since... [REC] probably. Do yourself a favor and watch it. I don't want to tell you anything about the plot, because I didn't know anything about it and maybe that's why I ended up liking it that much.

If you want to watch an obscure Spanish horror movie in which you will also have a very bad time (and quite similar to "Funny Games"), watch "Kidnapped" ("Secuestrados").

Clue - 7.5

It's a silly, stupid, and funny movie all neatly wrapped together. I'm glad that the DVD I have of it had an option to see all three endings in succession because that worked out nicely. Also, the final line was nothing short of perfect

Charlotte's Web (1973) - 5.9

This movie's alright, but there were some things in it which really hurt the film for me (most of the musical numbers and the dialogue, to name a couple).

The Last Unicorn - 5.5

Really nothing special.

Cars - 5.1

I appreciate it a little more than when I first saw it, but it's still a barely passable movie.

Captain America: The First Avenger - 7.9

Probably my favourite of the "Marvel Studios" movies. The only one I haven't seen is The Incredible Hulk, and I plan to see The Avengers tomorrow.

Tormented - 4.2

Pretty forgettable horror film which you really don't care for any of the characters by the end of the film or the serial killer.

Max Payne - 5.0

I came in already knowing that it was not going to stay true to Max Payne, so I decided to not let that bother me and instead rate in on the merits of the movie itself.

It ended up being quite the average film, not a poor one like I originally thought. I liked the visual style and cinematography, and the script was fine, but the performances of the actors/actresses were lacking overall and due it being an adaption of a lengthier media, the story wasn't as cohesive as it should have been.

The Avengers/Avengers Assemble - 8.8

I tried not to get myself too hyped for this one, but after I watched Thor and Captain America over the past month and a half, I couldn't help getting excited. It's really worth the hype, and ranks up there as one of the best superhero movies (Top 10 for sure, maybe Top 5).

Titanic 3D - 9.1/10

Even though I have seen the ending multiple times in my life since I was a kid, I never saw the entire movie until now. Now that I have seen it I can definitely say that it was an amazing experience, and that the movie is astonishing and simply beautiful. I don't get why this movie was so hated in the first place.

As for the 3D part, I think it wasn't very good to say the least --the movie was a little bit more blurry with the glasses on--, but there were many moments in which I could really appreciate the shots, specially when there were zooms and where there was a lot of water floods. But overall, a great experience.

The Usual Suspects - 8.2

Did a very good job on building up on intrigue and character as the movie went on, and towards the end, I was coming up with theories left and right as to the answer to the million dollar question that the movie poses. I did eventually figure it out before the reveal.

It did everything very well, but nothing tangible, for lack of a better word, was extraordinary, so my high expectations weren't quite met.
