I'm just kinda curious since I've been fretting this thing for weeks (should have been months but eh), and I figure I'm not the only engineering student around here. The april exam is probably way more popular, so I guess i wouldn't be too surprised if I'm the only one.
For those who clicked this topic wondering what the hell the FE exam is: It's the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam, formerly known as the EIT (Engineer in Training) exam. Its one of the first steps into becoming a licensed engineer, its an 8 hour standardized test covering all the stuff they feel you should know by the time you graduate college. 4 hours of it is 120 questions about general math, physics chemistry, etc, and 4 hours of it is in depth stuff relating to your concentration (or just harder general questions if yours wasn't there).

Yeah otherwise you lost 8 hours of street fighter you had stored up for the exam. So you'll have to play another 8
Frank, does your program offer any sort of review course? You'd think they're worthless, but holy crap they help since they give you an idea of what to look at. Do you have the reference manual yet? If not, get it now. Learning that thing is absolutely essential.
(And get the Casio-FX115ES, that thing is the best calculator allowed bar none)

I might be taking it next year? I dunno, no one I know has ever mentioned anything about it (I'm in an engineering school). Also I'm doing CS so I might not even need it?

Yeah, its really not important at all for you in CS. Go ahead and take it if you want, but it'll never be anything more than a potential pay raise for you (and the nifty title PE after your name if you manage to meet all the other criteria afterward)

I took it in the spring. Not too difficult as long as you know the basics. I graduated in industrial engineering, so it wasn't too important for me to pass, but either way it's a little nifty thing to put on the resume.
SD, I actually wanted to catch you earlier today - I took a practice morning session exam last night (a required course at my university since they wanted to boost FE passing rates), and there was this absurd problem about a manometer tied to the top of a car, with the specific gravity of the fluid known, the density of air known, and the amount the fluid rose in the manometer known. they wanted to know how fast the car was going.
...Is that even possible
(I got a 75% on the exam overall, so I didn't care I passed screw them)

I have no idea, I just found 2 of the possible answers that were off by the amount of the specific gravity and the density of air and chose the lower one, thinking maybe a common mistake was not factoring those in (somehow)
