Was there a character that the majority of people were clamoring for?
[Looks away] Yeah. Megaman.
Ah, true. Is that a sore topic now?
I played so much Megaman I almost dropped out of college. Everyone in our office is a huge fan of Megaman. There's no ill will towards Megaman fans. But, the problem with Megaman and MvC3 is if you take an 8-bit character, you would either have to play him as a 2D sprite in a 3D world, or you have to render him out as some sort of 3D figure.
Which would of course piss off some fans.
Yep. On top of that, when we looked at the original cast and what Megaman would do, he's a strictly projectile character and doesn't have the versatility of approaches that even Hawkeye has or Arthur from our side has.
Ironic how everyone keeps yelling at him that Hawkeye didn't take Mega Man's spot because he's a Marvel character and then Capcom says this.

It's not consistent with any of their decisions up to this point and it wouldn't make any f***ing sense even if it were.
I'll buy that they're afraid that any model they make for him, they're going to have people saying it looks like s*** or that they don't like which Mega Man we got. Honestly, I'm all for EXE.

From: 20three | #003 these people are idiots and have no idea what characters their fans would enjoy...
XFD remember when they got asked why they didn't use Spencer's Rearmed design and they thought people literally wanted an 8-bit sprite in the game as a playable character
Also, how many of the characters actually in the game had never been 3d models until now? Strider for sure, Firebrand and Arthur I think (not sure if the GnG on PSP is sprites or models), Phoenix Wright, Hsien-ko, maybe Felicia I forget if she was in TvC

Bahaha, wow. Yeah, this definitely harkens back to when they excused not using Spencer's original look by saying "Oh yeah, putting an 8-bit sprite in would be awkward." Like, there's dodging the question, then there's stupid crap like that.

this is what I immediately thought of
They seriously have no idea what they're doing or talking about
From: SSJSephirothGokuX123 | #009 Classic Mega Man already had a 3D model in Cannon Spike.
And UGnG is a 3D model game so MvC3 isn't his first 3D appearance. Firebrand isn't in UGnG just generic Red Arremers.
In Japan, Firebrand literally is just a generic Red Arremer who happened to be the chosen one to save the demon world or whatever (his name there is just Red Arremer), and if I recall in the US version of Super Ghouls n Ghosts the generic Red Arremers were all named Firebrand according to the credits roll.
Also, Classic Mega Man had a model in Mega Man Powered Up, albeit a chibi design.
I don't think I've ever heard a worse argument regarding anyone's reasoning for anything
Honestly, I might have to agree with this. Seriously, if Nintendo had that mindset, you wouldn't be able to play as Mario, Link, Samus, etc. in Smash Bros.

Does Capcom think any video game universe that originated in 2D graphics is LITERALLY a two-dimensional world?
I mean, Roll was in 3D in TvC and I didn't see anybody's head exploding over that one.
And is "we couldn't do it in a way that would make everybody completely happy, so we decided to not do it at all, thus making NOBODY happy" really the argument they want to use?
