In addition to the hurricane I'm being drowned under.

And not even a week since we felt an earthquake for half a minute.

God damn what is happening.

Lady tweeted a good question in to my local television station.

What do you do about a tornado warning during a hurricane? Do you go to the basement where it's probably flooded? Or do you go to the top floor where the tornado could do the most damage?

The meteorologist says we're basically ****ed.

Please. Forty-five minutes away from a tornado is like a thousand miles. It'll be gone before it goes 5 miles. But another one could spawn at anytime so good luck.

I'm just going to hope that the tornado dies before it gets here. I'm pretty sure the basement is flooded. It always floods.

Yeah, the meteorologist was like "Don't worry too much if the tornado is far away from you, tornadoes have a pretty short life."

And then he immediately announced two more tornado warnings. Not near me fortunately, but still.

Also, if it's that far away, how do they know it's going to proceed straight for your town? Couldn't it end up going somewhere else?

I think they were just saying that's how long it would take to reach here if it came here? I don't know, I heard that it was forty-five minutes away second hand because I wasn't totally paying attention.

And now they've announced a tornado warning for my area specifically.

But apparently tornado warnings are just to err on the side of caution and could be nothing. Then they just announced fifteen homes destroyed by a tornado in another town. So much for that.

Are tornadoes very common in your area? I'm not sure what average weather is in the east, which is where i'm assuming you are from the hurricane talk.

Nope. I don't think I've been within the tri-state area of a tornado in my entire life.

Apparently these are due to the hurricane somehow.

Well a warning means that an actual tornado was picked up on the radar or seen and was called in by the weather service station, so the warning is worse than your average thunderstorm warning. But it doesn't necessarily mean its on the ground. Tornadoes themselves are a bit... finicky. Kinda random. If you live in a rickety house or apartment I'd be a little nervous, but you don't seem too concerned by the hurricane so you should be fine unless its a really big tornado, which if it was the NWS would be blasting it on every radio and news station.

So it's either a huge precaution and nothing to worry about, or a catastrophic event that will destroy your home and kill your family.

Good luck!

Welp, it's been over fifteen minutes, so guess I'm safe.

They just announced tornado warnings for, like, ten other towns near me, but not mine, so hey. I'm probably good.

Tornado confirmed to have touched down in my city.

Well ****. Can't be very destructive though. I'd probably be getting phone calls by now if it was anything serious.

I live in South Jersey. Far enough from the coast to not be evacuated. But we're flooding because the ground is already saturated by the rainiest month in our recorded history before the hurricane hit.

Tornado hasn't affected me as far as I know, so eh.

Wait, what? That's backwards. They announce the warning when the tornado is spotted.

I'm not worried about the hurricane. I've dealt with hurricanes before. Granted this is the worst flooding I've ever seen, but still.

What I'm concerned about is tornadoes. Those are new to me.

I live outside of Cherry Hill, and it seems like Camden County has avoided most of the Tornado Warnings somehow. Watches until 5 AM. I'll probably stay up unless power goes out or something

I'm about an hour south of you in Cumberland Country. We've had a ton of warnings, but nothing has actually happened from what I can tell.
