I'll get a chance to see both, but which should I watch first? I'm leaning towards Thor.

X-Men no question.

Thor was very mediocre.

X-Men, however Thor was great, don't let the naysayers get you down.

X-Men First Class, however, is one of the best superhero films ever made.

X-Men First Class easily. I mean, they finally captured one of the greatest comic series right in my book, tough to top.

I do dig Thor though. Though Captain America more for sho'.

I'd say watch Thor first, since X-Men is much better. That way, you won't notice a dip in quality between the two.

Thor was better than Xmen. By a lot. It actually makes sense and isn't corny beyond belief (heck it isn't corny at all except for the bumblings of the 4 Asgardian friends).

Xmen had way too many quotes and actions that were borderline stupid.

But, hell if you're watching both anyways...then watch whatever one strikes your fancy.

I saw X-Men twice, also saw the last 20 minutes a third time once, since a friend of ours went to see it after we saw something else and it was still going.

All three times, teared up a bit near the end cuz my man Charles is such a badass. Also, that Magneto speech at the end is the coolest speech ever. If I had a metal album it'd start with that.

Thor was excellent, don't see why it gets so much hate. Green Lantern was easily the worst comic book movie of the summer, though it was decent.

Haven't seen X-Men yet.

My main problem with Thor besides the terrible Earth supporting cast (All the Asgardians were great) is that he acted nothing like any version of Thor.

Kind of like the terrible Earth supporting cast in GL, right?

And I don't know what Thor you've read, because he was pretty close to 616 Thor. Starts off arrogant and ends up noble yet still cocky.

What about the JMS run?

It's not like they could just use that for inspiration considering they were telling Thor's origin, and the JMS run has literally nothing to do with that.

The JMS run was great, one of my favorite Thor arcs. But incorporating it into movie form would be difficult without a previous movie to explain why Asgard is suddenly on Earth.

I understand that and it's really just my incredibly biased opinion. JMS is how I know Thor and makes me want a movie with a more epic adventurous feel in a LotR style, while what we got was a, admittedly necessary considering the direction they're going, generic popcorn flick full of throwaway jokes and annoying supporting characters with Thor going through the typical "Oh I'm ignorant of all this wacky technology and human customs" routine.

I know we couldn't get JMS Thor, but a man can dream.

Of course, Marvel itself (Bendis, rather), **** all over JMS Thor the second he left, so....

As much as I hate what Bendis did with Siege, it was partially JMS' fault. He was given a year to have Thor to himself with no crossovers, and then took something like two years to write twelve issues or something. That's when Siege cropped up. Yeah, Siege would've been bad either way, but JMS and his delays are pretty annoying, too.

And I don't see how you can call Thor a generic popcorn flick and rave about GL...but yeah, opinions and whatnot.

Doubt you could!

And those are just specifics.

Bendis is a hack, at least now. Not gonna pretend I've read his Daredevil, everyone raves about it probably will some day. But what he's got going on now? Avengers is atrocious. New Avengers is terrible. Moon Knight sucks. Siege sucked.

Scarlet was good! But that's a different story.

And he's got that creepy fetish for Spider Woman's hair.

X-Men: First Class is legitimately great, but Thor is mediocre at best. I think I even liked Green Lantern a little better than it. :\

As for Captain America, it's a notch below X-Men, but way about the others. I highly recommend that one too.

Based on how much I liked Iron Man, Thor, and Cap, Avengers should be amazing.

Thor had quite possibly the least believable romance in any movie of the ever. Not that it's what I see a damn comic book movie for, but they could at least try to do something beyond "Hot chick meets muscle man and they want to bang."
