Besides the hard drive size.

I see on Amazon that it's $100 cheaper and I think I could probably live with 4 gigs. Everything else the same?

You can't live with 4GB.

That means no downloadable games, no installing games to your harddrive and if you play a reasonable amount of games you'll run out of saving space.

Don't do it.

That means no downloadable games,

As in it won't let you download games? I'm probably just buying this for Third Strike Online Edition and won't be putting anything else on it.

4GB needs an external HD to be worth anything. 250GB is more than worth it.

I don't believe it's actually a harddrive in the 4GB console, but that's the only real difference between the two, as far as I know. 4GB is brutal if you plan on actually using the console, but you can always buy a harddrive later on.

You can download 3S Online with the 4GB model, yeah. It's only ~700MB in size.

4gb just isn't enough these days. That only really covers game saves, and maybe tiny DLC. Its pretty much a trick to get people to buy it with the lower price, and then you realize you need to buy an expensive HD thats like 100 bucks or more to make it usable.

also another question:

what cable comes in the box on the 360 slims? HDMI, Yellow/White/Red, or other?

Last I knew, composite cables (yellow/red/white).

appreciated! I might prefer my CRT for 3S but also have a computer monitor with an HDMI port, might buy an HDMI cable also.

Not a bad idea! HDMI cables are super cheap, so you can get a good one for less than $5 on Amazon or something.

I got a 4Gig before I got my 250 Hard Drive and saved about $50 through ebay action scouting, but I may have gotten lucky. You really need a hard drive to enjoy it. It lets you make plenty of saves, download as many games and demos as you could want. Also you need a hard drive for any Backwards Compatibility to work.

Now that's just ridiculous. Between retail, XBLA, and indie games, I have nearly 150 games on Xbox 360, and I keep my Live profile and all my saves on one of those memory cards they used to sell, and that's not even 1 gigabyte. And it came with Worms taking up a big chunk of space! It's still got over 130MB of space left, too.
