Its a great business move. Companies are hesitant to put stuff out on PSN first since that'll lose a lot of potential customers overall.

Also to respond to this: Back then, multiplatform wasn't very significant. Most of the time you'd release it on just N64 or PS1.

Nowadays, nearly everything is on 360 and PS3. If Microsoft refuses to accept the game if you put it on PS3 first, thats a large lost in potential sales due to the current market.

Nintendo has outsold Sony and Microsoft each by about 20 million units this generation with really only their first party games driving it, given Nintendo's stature as a developer, losing third parties doesn't really mean crap to them.

Microsoft on the other hand is almost entirely dependent on third parties, they really don't make anything good of their own like Nintendo and Sony, the 360 is a great console mostly because it consistently gets the best version of multiplat releases, not exclusives.

Yeah, 360 lives on multi-plats. If it's not a PS3 game it's usually a PC game. XBLA gets some exclusives, though.

Incidentally, MS just refused making Arcana Heart 3, retail OR XBLA, available in North America. It's a pretty decent fighting game, although a bit too technical for me to try playing on a 360 controller.
