This note, written in sharpie on a f***ing religious propaganda pamphlet is now duct-taped to my door to keep those f***ing a****** jehova witnesses away.
If they do no abide, I will actually start answering my door... with a machete, because one of my machetes sits atop the water pipe (for my building's sprinkler system) that is literally right above my door.
I don't like drawing attention to myself by doing things like "telling religious people to f*** off while threatening them with a machete" but they are really starting to piss me off...

no one does that. If someone I know will be in the vicinity of my building, he or she will contact me ahead of time. I don't have company over. I visit people I want to visit elsewhere. If my door is knocked upon randomly, it is unexpected and therefore whoever is on the other side is to be interpretted as a threat and treated as such. Ignoring such a person is the best option that such a person can hope for. I live in an apartment building with individual rooms and no peepholes, so I cannot see who is there without opening the door, and therefore I am completely and unconditionally unwilling to open my door if it is knocked upon...
So when it is knocked upon, the levels of paranoia that flood my mind are nearly infinite. I check my phone to see if anyone I know had been in the area and had attempted to contact me before showing up. I think back about the previous week or so and wonder if I had been excessively loud on any given day to the degree that perhaps a neighbor was annoyed at me and knocked on my door in an effort to confront me...
But that is never the case... NO ONE in this building answers the door without expecting company... Last time my door was knocked upon, I met my neighbor in a common area a few hours later. He asked me if I had knocked on his door. He thought the knocking was on my door, while I thought it was on his. Neither one of us had been willing to answer.
I have the weapons with which a door can be answered with at least a slight degree of security... but I don't want to know who is on the other side, because whoever it is, he or she is NOT invited. If he or she was, the arrangements would have been made ahead of time.

I remember when I was a kid, and there were no peep holes or something, so my parents were very firm about us asking through the door who was there before actually opening to greet them.
Ah the days of no peep holes.

My recommendation: stop being an awkward, anti-social ass.
Look, it's clear that you don't personally buy into the whole "religion" thing. That's fine. But these people are deeply committed to their faith, and are willing to spend big chunks of their time trying to help others in the best way they know how. Any reasonable person would politely open the door, respect what they had to say, accept the pamphlet, and then throw it away later. If it's really becoming a problem for you, then put up a sign saying "No Solicitors"; the next time they come around, remain respectful but be firm about how you'd appreciate no more soliciting. They'll understand. Religious folk aren't the crazies you're making them out to be.
...And really now, opening the door with a machete in hand? Give me a ****ing break.

I live in a 1 bedroom apt that is literally just one room in a building that is only locked at night and sometimes isn't even locked, so someone showing up and knocking on my door would be like someone you don't know walking into your house uninvited and knocking on your bedroom door. I don't appreciate that sort of thing. I'm not anti-social. I just value privacy and have no obligation to interact with every single person that shows up to talk to me with the ulterior motive of trying to convince me to go to some stupid religion conference. When I get annoyed about someone I don't know showing up simply because they want something from me that I don't want to give them, it's perfectly reasonable. Maybe I just exaggerated and acted crazy last night in my posts. I'm not sure. I haven't read them.
These people have woken me up numerous times and I do not like to be woken up (I get enough of that crap from the loud-ass train that goes right by building at random hours), so they have that strike against them as well. I've talked to them before because I had to (they were blocking my door as I returned from putting laundry in the dryer. The fact that I gave them a fake name and admitted it was a fake name without telling them my real name, and gave answers like "I don't know" when asked questions about when I'm around or not around, should have made it clear to them that I didn't want them to return.
Ganon as crazy as my posting makes me out to be, it's far too easy for me to keep what's in my mind in my mind and not out in the open when interacting with people in person. I can have all kinds of psychotic s*** going through my head and people around me would never have a clue. I don't have to hide anything on the internet and in fact the internet encourages me to not only roll with it but exaggerate which isn't exactly a good thing but sometimes I just can't help myself >_>

Dude, I KNOW! It took us years to drive away those ****ers from our house. One of our family friends is a real Bible-thumping holy rolling evangelist. So we invited her over one day when the Jehovahs usually came. She answered the door and shouted scripture at them until they left and they never came back. It was the funniest thing I've ever seen.

Why would I be embarassed? Because I posted crazy s*** when I was drunk? I do that frequently. I don't feel any reason to be embarassed (I mean I did have to pull an Ulti and delete a post in which I said something I shouldn't have, but that's the first time I've done that in ages). Did you read my explanation post that "bumped" this topic? It conveys my views on the issue in a more rational and sober manner than the posts I made last night...

I'm not demanding tolerance. I'm just demanding that people who I don't have any desire to deal with simply leave me alone and don't show up at my apt. I mean it's one thing to approach me in public. Last time a Jehova's witness came to my door, my dad answered it. The conversation went sort of like this.
"Hello, we'd like to talk to you today." "Look, I don't go to your house trying to convert you, and I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to do so at our door." "Well we respect your position-" "Then why are you here?" *Fishlike gape. Leaves.*

lol. actually my buddy used the do that when we lived in the same apartment (he has the same machete as one of mine because we both decided to buy them when we were randomly in a store that happened to sell them). That was only when people we knew (and were expecting) showed up though...
