yup. Bought the two parts yesterday, didn't have much time to read them yesterday though so I'll start properly today. Only read the prologue and Jaime's (yay new POV) first chapter yesterday. Good stuff already and I like how Martin takes his time to explain what happened everywhere else during the Blackwater battle!
Only a short recap on what I've read so far, but if anyone wants to discuss some more it's fine to do so
oh also SPOILERS FOR THE SERIES A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE from here, and no spoilers further than where I am please.
I just finished Jon's first chapter. So I'm about 100 pages in. I love where everything is going. Sansa getting wed to a Tyrell seems interesting enough and Tyrion losing basically all of his power and influence makes him all the more intriguing to me. I am still anticipating the moment when Arya is finally reunited with Nymeria and I love that she too dreamed through Nymeria's perspective. (I don't remember the term for that anymore, can someone clear that up for me?) Mance Rayder seems awesome awesome awesome. I love his whole introduction and the fact that he somehow managed to go past the wall and managed to catch a glimpse from the beginning of this whole war. I thought he was going to be some sort of bloody savage, which is the point I guess.
Favourite NEW characters: The Queen of Thorns and Mance Rayder. Definitely potential to become overall favourites.
Favourite characters (can be small roles, don't care!) for the whole series so far
Tyrion Lannister Arya Stark Jon Snow Qhorin Halfhand Asha Greyjoy The Hound Ser Jorah Mormont Eddard Stark Jaime Lannister Robb Stark
From: VincentLauw | #004 she too dreamed through Nymeria's perspective. (I don't remember the term for that anymore, can someone clear that up for me?)
Warg is the term you're looking for.

No amount of planning will ever replace dumb luck.
330 pages in, so far so good. I loved Jaime's recent chapter and am frankly not that sad to see Ser Cleos go. It's more interesting to see how Jaime and Brienne will manage on their own now and how they will escape (or not) the bloody mummurs

http://www.myspace.com/moresomebelgium My totally rad band, yo.
Just finished another Davos chapter. He's trapped in a cell with Stannis' Hand now. I sincerely doubt Melisandre's intentions are as good as she makes them out to be.
Jaime losing his hand is sad, but it'll provide for some interesting stuff later I bet. I'm about 450 into Steel and Snow now (called it quits yesterday, was tired) and will probably finish that one today.
I feel kind of bad for Sansa but then again I think her and Tyrion make a great couple. Not romantically per se, but at least she's safe for now and it's beneficial for Tyrion too.
I haven't brought up Dany in this topic yet? 'woops'
I like her chapters though! I'm not sure she did the right thing with getting the unsullied to fight for her and what not though. I just hope she stays as righteous as she's been so far. I love Ser Jorah too, but I'm probably the only one.
Oh and I read a few more chapters today and will do some more later this day too. I like how Robb wants Jon as his heir, it's only the right choice. Though I'm quite sure once Bran pops back up in the other Stark's lives the whole squabble between Robb and Catelyn will be forgotten
Stopped right after Jon Snow's chapter and the attack on the Wall. Right before an Arya chapter she's still alive yesssss. I expected that but it's nice to see confirmation.
Can't read too much tomorrow but there's a chance I will anyway, I'll see if I can't take the book with me. About 250 pages left I'd say. Then I'm taking a loooong break (about a month) because of exams.
So, I finished it. If anyone wants to discuss something with me, feel free. For now, only a few short points that made me go HOLY ****:
- Tyrion's first wife not being a prostitute. Jaime's getting more awesome every chapter. - Tyrion killing Tywin yesssssss - Jon Lord Commander yesssssss - Sam finally growing balls yesssssss - Ser Jorah banished, boo Dany. boo. - Littlefinger set basically everything up. He's actually responsible for starting the war by letting Lysa kill Jon Arryn. That sly bastard. Killing Lysa is a pluspoint too. - Poor Sansa, she never seems to catch a break. - Wonder what'll happen next with Arya. Loved the ending of her last chapter. Very excited to see what happens next with that. I am still rooting for her to be reunited with Nymeria. On a slightly related note: Loved the reunion of Jon and Ghost. - Stannis is a boss. That is all. Wonder what he'll do now that Jon refused to be 'Lord of Winterfell'.
and finally
DAT EPILOGUE
I knew from the moment the epilogue was through the eyes of a Frey that there'd be some startling revelation about Cat or Robb and I see I wasn't wrong. Cat still alive yesssss.
I may have forgotten some mind boggling event so feel free to point that out. So much **** happened the last 200 pages I don't quite remember everything off hand.
