I didn't know this was illegal in China either! In fact I am surprised that they had more than one kid. Obviously my knowledge of Chinese law is out of date.

Well, not more than yourself necessarily. This may be an extreme case, but have you never seen/heard of some dickish parent just constantly putting their own wants/needs above their child's?
