it does when that's 10% of the amount of games that you've played in your life!

Maybe capcom would be better if they stopped with all the ports and remakes, and actually take their existing franchises in one direction (instead of half assing mega man into what seems like 5 different genres).
Capcom would also be better off if they stopped abusing DLC, and created new franchises that are changes of pace from the genres of their already existing major franchises.
DLC is probably the dumbest thing about this gen, and this gen has some horribly dumb things about it.
You're also leaving off DMC3, and 4 (it's still incredibly fun)

Demon HunterX posted... Be completely fair, there are a few companies that do DLC right, like Bioware. I hate DAO, but the one thing it did really, really well was DLC that actually deserved to be DLC and wasn't too blatant a money grab.
bioware is ok with its DLC i guess. I wouldnt say they "do it right", they just dont **** it up at capcom levels.
How could you possibly do DLC anymore right than what Bioware does?
Also Bethesda does DLC right aswell IMO.

DMC3 isnt as good as DMC1, and DMC4 was a dying franchise's last grasp

bioware does do a few "within a few days" of release DLC, which pisses me off when a company does it. Like i said bioware for the most part is good with their dlc.

Depends on what happens next-gen, how Japanese developers respond now that they know what to expect, and where the Japanese market decides to fall. It was rough for them this gen because they were in a bad spot no matter what -- 360 dominated in the West, portables were king at home, and the Wii was the overall market leader everywhere. No good solution for them that doesn't sacrifice something.
wonder if this will be remembered as the generation when western gaming started to overtake eastern gaming.
no question about it. This generation has been much more oriented toward the western gamer, while in previous gens the only system that was for western gamers was the PC.

portables actually were better selling in the USA than Japan. Partially because the USA has 300ish million to japans 130, but ya.
Not to mention the vita looks more oriented towards western gamers.

Vita isn't oriented any particular way. If anything, the features they've talked about so far are more Japanese-centric -- the stuff like Near and being able to see what people around you are playing. It does look like the best bridge between portable and console that has ever come out, though. It'll be huge in Japan, and if Sony plays their cards right, which they have so far, it should be big in the West, too.

even though the jrpg developers have signed on with the vita, and the vita claims to have lower production costs for the system than the current gen consoles (which it probably will), im still worried that jrpgs wont be very noticeable on the vita. This gen had tons of great jrpgs on the ds/psp, but i felt it was moreso becuase jrpgs were relegated to handhelds. Forcing a genre to be relegated to one area of gaming is one step closer to its demise.
I also question how good the vita will be in platformers and adventure games along the mold of jak and daxter. Well see. The vita looks promising, but current gaming trends could overtrump it.

It's been reported as such for a few years now.
By the way, this was literally the only Capcom game I'd ever anticipated, this Mega Man Legends 3. They basically had one shot to mae me care about them (Mega Man' the only Capcom franchise I've ever really gotten into and I started playing a lot of them after they'd been released so there wasn't much hype involved) and they shot their feet off about it.

If we're still bringing up **** from five years ago, why don't we also say that Capcom is the best because they made Okami and God Hand and released a bunch of Ace Attorney games?
FFX was released 10 years ago(today...) and then square never made another good game, they're long past sinking, they're at the bottom of the ocean rotting.
I've got no problem with the new Dead Rising game. It's a complete new game, with a new plot and characters and with new areas and weapons, plus they're not selling it as a full price title. Compared to what Rockstar did with the retail version of Undead Nightmare, Off the Record is fine.

What were the big-name Western franchises last gen? GTA? Halo? Battlefield? Metroid Prime?
Whereas Japanese developers still came out with Final Fantasy X, Metal Gear Solid 2/3, The Wind Waker, Resident Evil 4, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, Tales of Symphonia, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Gran Turismo 3/4, Okami, Kingdom Hearts 1/2, yadda yadda yadda.

Yeah, those were some of the huge money-stealers last gen, LMS. They also did really, really well. Also, Metroid is always going to be a Japanese franchise regardless of who works on it. It's a Nintendo franchise!
Hence transience saying it started last gen!

Street Fighter 4 happened. Regardless if you like the game or not, it ruined Capcom. It sold millions, which led to believe all "quality video game development" should be diverted into whoring out Street Fighter 4 as much as possible. Sure, Resident Evil 4 got the same treatment, but RE4 didn't have 5 dollar DLC for palette costume swaps and online play as an excuse for barebones content. I have zero hope for Tekken X Street Fighter. Combine the two worst companies for DLC and you'll get a $60 half-ass game with $200 DLC for on-disc content and worthless costumes.

you haven't even played 90% of that list so why are you listing those games
nevermind the fact that you just chose to not list a whole bunch of quality Western titles

Just gonna go through some good last-gen Western games in my collection:
Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance series Beyond Good & Evil Bully Burnout series Champions of Norrath series Eternal Darkness (Game of the Generation right here) Fable God of War series Grand Theft Auto series Guitar Hero Halo series Indigo Prophecy Legacy of Kain series Lego Star Wars series Midnight Club 3 Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks Prince of Persia series Ratchet & Clank series Spider-Man series TimeSplitters series Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 X-Men Legends series
I mean I'll be honest I preferred Western developers last generation already. The industry is just catching up to where I was a decade ago.

to be fair, as soon as they entered a generation that could do DLC, they made versus mode DLC for RE5!

Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance series --- better series on the PC Beyond Good & Evil --- good Bully ---- probably the most overrated game of last gen Burnout series --- no Champions of Norrath series ----really u think thats a good western series? Eternal Darkness (Game of the Generation right here) ---- no to game of the gen, solid and good choice though Fable ---- overhyped and not that good God of War series ---- the tail end of last gen, hell the 360 was already released when gow1 came out Grand Theft Auto series --- good Guitar Hero --- id argue its more beginning of current gen than it is a last gen series (even if the best GH games were 1/2/80s and 3) Halo series --- good Indigo Prophecy ---- also very late last gen Legacy of Kain series ---- meh, better during the ps1 and dreamcast eras Lego Star Wars series---- cmon really? I know they are well received, but hardly a testament to "actually the previous gen was the first one where western > eastern" Midnight Club 3 ---- acceptable Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks --- no Prince of Persia series---- good Ratchet & Clank series ----- about as western as DK64 imo Spider-Man series ---- lol, really? TimeSplitters series ---- i also barely consider this western Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 ---- good X-Men Legends series ---- slightly above average at best series.
Gaming last gen was still way more eastern than western. Remember last gen started around 2000. Many of the games you mentioned as last gen were at such the tail end of last gen that id argue they were the "exceptions to the rule" and "the games that showed us where the trend was headed".
