Also I'd suggest not buying the ****ing VC versions. The VC is a terrible system and if something happens to your actual console/handheld, you're ****ed. It's not like Steam where you get your own account.

Hmm. In what way are the GBA versions better? Also is the DS version of IV any better than the GBA?

Best in the series, IMO.

GBA version fixes several glitches (including one in the SNES version that makes an entire character stat, Evade, do nothing at all), and touches up the translation. Which people either like or hate, depending on nostalgia goggles

The best part of FFVI is the music, which the GBA version completely butchers. I really love the original translation, too.

I'll admit

VI was the better game

though personally I liked IV more

That's a fine suggestion. And yeah, FFV Advance really benefits from the new translation. Ridiculously so. The characters go from bland tropes to somewhat amusing and Bartz and Galuf in particular get great!

The GBA version also includes several new Espers, a bonus postgame dungeon and some new eqiuipment in addition to what's already been said.

FFV Advance gets similar treatment but with extra Job Classes instead of Summons.

If you're gonna play both of them anyways, start with the earlier one.

Also my obligatory two cents: IV and VI aren't that great anyways. Make sure you play V.

It was some years ago, but GBA FFIV looked terribly slow with casting spells to me.

But I don't know now if that's true. It was just something I observed at a younger age.

It does lag. I might be remembering this wrong but I think the Japanese version was the worst, the American version was a bit better and the European version fixed it.

I still prefer the overall appearance of the Advance/PSP installment over the DS remake, though.

DS remake is the best version of the game, I'd say. Gameplay and presentation are much improved.

VI > V > IV by fairly clear margins, though I can at least see a fight over V's placement. VI is better than IV at everything though.
