The company produces multiplatform games, just like Sega and Konami. It's no different than Sonic or Snake. Just because they had games on Nintendo consoles doesn't change anything, since Final Fantasy HAS and still is a series that shows up on Nintendo consoles.
Whereas Halo is purely Xbox, console-wise.

I really wouldn't be surprised if, and I mean IF, Square picked a FF6 rep, they would choose Kefka. I mean yeah, Square chooses Terra as the "leader" of the Returners, but she just doesn't stand out much, and FF6 leader arguments happen all the time, the game often gets the "no distinct leader" argument. Kefka though is the definite opposer, and was totally the best thing about Dissidia.

Here's the deal. Nintendo seems to care more about characters than how much a series is represented if at all. That's why there's a huge disproportional representation of characters. This isn't about representing Final Fantasy. I don't get where people keep getting this from my argument.

So then, if Nintendo included a Square character, Sora would be the only possible choice, because Nintendo likes advertising for their games, and there's a new Kingdom Hearts coming out on the 3DS.

Depends how you look at it. On the opposite side, they could choose Cloud because they want sales for THAT game (SSB) to rise, and so they'd pander to people that may not normally purchase it.

Mer's is a damn good list, only things I would change are adding Birdo, and switching Diskun with Sukapon from Joy Mech Fight, and maybe ditching Ghiraham
