there's no good reason not to unless you just don't want to be around high people.

high driving is not dangerous and pot is not dangerous, either.

it would be a strong industry in california and slightly revitalize their economy.

i'd like to see some arguments on the other side. i'm curious.

pot criminalization is necessary for the industrial prison complex, legalizing it would be BAD for the economy

disclaimer: I'm playing devils advocate here and I have no idea what the validity of these claims are

I could die if I tried marijuana and I still believe it should be legalized, so yeah.

There are arguments, none of them are particularly good. Pot definitely isn't for everyone though. You'll definitely see some problems rise up, just like with any other legal drug.

Curious about this, could you please elaborate? Unless it has to do with the actual smoke.

oh yeah, that's another thing, some insanely high percentage of drug incarcerations are pot related

meaning fewer ruined lives (and more people out in the workforce helping the economy?)

we can't even employ all of the workforce that we have now, though. more people leaching off welfare, which is more expensive than imprisonment

I don't know if this would actually be the case, but I'm inclined to believe it would, just as many people abuse prescription drugs. Legalizing it would lead to abuse(or at the very least, a higher rate of abuse), which eventually can lead to f***ing up your dopamine levels.

Lower dopamine levels can lead to other addictions and depression among other things.

I'm not saying all people would abuse it, I'm just saying their is a high chance that abuse of it would go up.

Not only am I asthmatic but I also have some PTSD-related issues and oddly enough, the combination boosted my blood pressure to pretty scary levels the two times I went near the stuff.

Mind you, 2007 was a very bad year for me in general so that didn't help. Both times were within three months of eachother and the second time I wound up in the hospital. The doctors didn't believe it was straight-up weed because "that doesn't happen" but the tests proved it: it was straight-up weed. I reacted in an incredibly negative manner; blood pressure shot up. They ran an EKG thinking my heart was going ballistic but it's in perfect health, so yeah.

I had a special brownie in 2010 because two of my good GameFAQs buddies who became IRL friends since they live so close baked them and I experienced a much less insane version of those events that then made me really sick for a week to boot.

Suffice it to say, it's not for me.

Jeff Zero: Definitely a weird case. Although I have heard through a couple sources that smoking weed can actually be beneficial to those who suffer from asthma. I'm surprised it went better the second time though, eating weed generally results in a much, much more intense high.

As for the topic. I would like to see it legalized just because it's really a shame to see good people go to jail for enjoying or selling something so harmless. But I would have to say a very large portion of pot smokers really can't handle the drug as well as they think they can. The effects of long-term use are so subtle that people think it isn't harming them in any way, yet their motivation goes to ****, their short-term memory suffers and they start coughing for "no reason".

I mean there are a ton of people who keep it under control and really don't let it affect their lives, but I think so many more are just completely oblivious to how it has changed them. I'd rather see LSD, Mushrooms and MDMA legalized to be completely honest.

Yeah, my medical history is all-around pretty odd.

Legalizing pot would cause the pharmaceutical industry to plummet because it could be used to treat most ailments and they don't want that to happen.

I can safely say that almost everything you have heard about LSD is probably a lie. What propaganda has done to that drug's reputation really, really bothers me. As with any psychedelic, one has to be prepared, and in the right mindset before taking it (you have to be truly comfortable with your own thoughts and feelings) but taken under the right circumstances, it is easily the most beautiful thing that someone can experience in life. I've done it 4 times in my life, and each time was better than the last.

But I cannot stress enough how much the setting and comfort level of the user have on the experience. I know it's technically possible to have the worst time of your life on it, but under the conditions I create for myself, it has never been anything but overwhelmingly positive for the entire (10+ hours) duration.

I see, maybe I had it mixed up with something else but I thought it could also stay in your system and cause trips at random times?

and I think there are very very few people who are actually comfortable with their own thoughts and feelings, most people you can visibly observe lying to themselves on a daily basis...

Honestly, I cannot say what happens to people who take insane doses... but I have definitely heard of people claiming to have "flashbacks" and things like that. I mean even the term "trip" confuses me, because the experience just feels so natural, and I have always remained completely lucid and in total control at every point. Even moreso than I would on mushrooms and infinitely moreso than on alcohol. Having flashbacks to the times I've been on acid would simply be me remembering some of the best days in my life.

I agree on the second part though, and I believe that's why psychedelics in general have earned themselves such a bad name. They can force you to think about things you've been trying to avoid... It really doesn't surprise me that most people would freak out and try to abort the experience rather than just face the things that trouble them.
