I am not one to easily lose their patience, but I am on the verge of just giving up on these games, at least for the foreseeable future.

Metal Gear Solid 3 is a game that I was given by a friend shortly after launch because he did not like it. Well, I did not like either and sold it for close to $30. I forgot the reasons why I did not like it but a user here thought it could have been the camera and since I had the Subsistance version, that would not be a problem. Well, I know remember why I didn't like it after playing it tonight. The beginning is awful. I can't really describe it much better than that. One of the best examples iswhen I came to a bridge and I took out the first guard but then two more appeared on the bridge and then more kept appearing beyond the bridge and I somehow had to deal with this crap with a knife, though I somehow must have been able to back in the day.

Shadow of the Colossus just has awkward physics and an awkward control scheme that results in having quite a steep learning curve for just the basics. I keep dying to the first colossi because I cannot seem to grasp everything yet and I keep getting the feeling that I never will.

God Hand is fine and all until boss fights because your moves suddenly become so powerless that you have to land an extraordinarily high amount of normal moves in addition to some of those signature moves just to even come close to beating them because they always seem to have one cheap move in their arsenal. I am currently at the Fat Elvis, I want to think that's his name, fight in a graveyard and that is only Chapter 2. I don't want to keep seeing this cycle repeat but it's been doing that since the beginning.

I know these games have a lot of fans on the board so try and persuade me to give these games another shot

I'm not sure how you're having this problem! You should have a Mk-22 from the very beginning of the game, and tranquilizers make the game easier.

Plus, MGS3 doesn't have infinite reinforcements like the previous two games did.

I will admit MGS3 gets off to a slow start, but once it gets going, that game never stops. Top 3 game for me.

Seriously? It...really isn't that hard to get used to the control scheme.

Man, I thought SotC had an amazing control scheme. Like literally, if you were to ask me about great control schemes I'd honestly mention SotC. Unless you're tryinh to stand on top of your horse while throwing arrows (I think it's possible) then it should pretty simple. I'd recommend just going around the world enjoying the sights and getting fruit/lizards to get accostumed to the controls, if it's such a bother. It really is an experience unlike any other, one everyone should at least see in its entirety.

Can't say much about the others, I'm actually playing MGS3 too first time.

Never got into MGS games (and yet beat the first 3). SotC is about puzzles and is really not as complicated as it looks. God Hand is the same as any hardcore action game, in that the bosses often will defeat you repeatedly, but are definitely doable. Might want to mess with your moveset a bit to see if that helps, and remember, landing enough normals on a boss will stun them and let you do a QTE of sorts for significant damage.

Are you playing Virtuous Mission or Operation Snake Eater?

You say "beginning of the game," but I'm assuming you mean the Virtuous Mission. If you're playing the beginning of Operation Snake Eater, then yeah, you start off with no equipment.

But if you're playing the Virtuous Mission, there's no reason you shouldn't have a gun.

No need to be to a jerk. I did look at the manuals but if you honestly read my problems, then you would realize that they don't apply to my problems with SotC and God Hand. I thought that I had read the manual quite thoroughly for MGS3 but if they do talk about the inventory and backpack limitations thing, then it appears that I did not do as good of a job as I originally thought

i don't know what to tell you about SotC since the first colossus is... just really easy

if you can't even get through that then you're gonna be in for a hell of a time for the rest of the game

are you holding down the grab button when you're clinging on to its hair? (i forget which specific button that is)

well, i guess one tip for that is to just be patient

climb on its back, cling onto its hair, don't even try moving when its shaking wildly, and only proceed climbing when it steadies itself for a while

SotC is essentially an 8 hour Boss Rush.

And how are you having so much trouble on the first colossus?
You just grab on the fur and hold the button, move to its weak point, press Square once wait a bit to fully charge and then stab, and repeat until it dies, and then do that for the rest of the them.

Okay, I finally got past the bridge in MGS3 but I keep alerting guards in the factory so I stopped. I don't really like the idea of a stealth game in a wide open setting where guards can easily blend into the setting and can see you from miles away.

However, my faith in SotC is restored completely. I beat the first two colossi and I just love the fights. I kind of feel like the biggest as***** in the world because I am killing these majestic creatures that don't seem all that aggressive or anything. I am not a big fan of what happens between fights because it is bare of puzzles and platforming for the most part and mostly consists of looking at the scenery while on your trusty steed.

I also want to find out the music that was playing during the second colossi fight because it was awesome

Unless you're just standing up in the middle of everything, they shouldn't be able to spot you "from miles away." If you're on the ground (especially in something like tall grass) with 80-85% camo index, they shouldn't be able to spot you unless you're close by and they're looking right at you (or you're making noise).

But setting off alerts in MGS3 is going to happen quite frequently, so don't let it discourage you because sometimes guards do sneak up on you. In the factory area, you can actually crawl underneath the factory and hide until alert goes away.

That is actually what I did and I waited until alert, evasion, and caution were all cleared and then no matter which exit I took, there was a guard staring right at me at an angle that I could not see

God Hand is awesome. It's a tough game. If you're having trouble on chapter 2, you probably won't like the rest of it. Maybe you just have to take it in stride and accept that you'll die.

SotC is great.

MGS3 has camera issues, but you have Substance, so I don't know.
