Board 8 > What did you call your grandparents when you were young?

One side was granny and papaw. The other was Buddy (no idea where this nickname originated) and JoJo (her name is Joanne).

I ask because this boy next to me at the beach keeps calling his grandmother "meems" and I've never heard that one before. Perhaps there are others out there!

I don't know why I used the names of my granparents on my father side, though it's probably because I see them less often.

This was on my mother's side. On my father's side, I had gramma, but my grandfather died when my dad was 9. I called my great grandfather on my dad's side pop.

It's different in danish. Your mothers parents are mormor and morfar. Your farthers parents are farmor and farfar. Translated to english, mor=mom far=dad.

So yeah, I called and still call them what I stated above, much like everyone else in Denmark.

Granny and Grandpa. That's still their names to me and all of their grandchildren.

That's on my mom's side though. My dad's parents are no longer alive, my dad's father died when my dad was 17, but his mom didn't die until when I was about... something. I can't remember, I was younger. I called her Grandma though.
