Board 8 > C/D: SNES had the best trio of FF games. *possible spoilers*

I have to confirm. IV and VI are both amazing games and are definitely in my top 5 FFs, while V is severely underrated and had an amazing battle system/gameplay mechanics while also having a great soundtrack and solid cast of characters.

While the PS or PS2 may have had the 'best' FF (majority believe to be either VII or X), I think without a doubt the SNES has the best overall. IX and VII are great but VIII was really disappointing. X is probably my favourite but both X-2 and XII were not up to par.

Anyways what does everyone else think about this? My overall ranking would have to be:

FF5/6 are pretty good and FF4 is at least passable. That's better than you'll find in any other generation.

Your list is alright. I don't agree with a lot of it but apart from FFIV which I'm not crazy about being so high and FFX-2 which would be at the bottom of my list being so relatively high, I can't think of much to complain about.

D, Tactics exists and even without it I'd still disagree.

VIII is a fantastic game, albeit the teenage drama story. It still delivers in every other aspect.

But somewhat weakly, ahead of the PS trio. IX is my favorite, but it's followed by VI and V. VII is good and IV is decent enough, but I don't care for VIII.

D. While VI is my favorite, and IV is also really good, I think the combination of IX and VIII beats it. VII is also better than V. If I award points from 6 to 1, it would be...

VI > IX > VIII > IV > VII > V

SNES: 6 + 3 + 1

PSX: 5 + 4 + 2

Yep, the PSX trio wins by one point.

Disagree. I'd go with the PS1 trio because I love VIII and IX. I can't pick the PS2 trio even though it has my favorite FF game in it. The SNES FF games aren't too bad though.

SNES - 4 pretty good, 5 second or third best FF, 6 is the best game ever
PSX - 7 pretty good, 8 pretty bad, 9 second or third best FF
PS2 - haven't played 10 or 10-2 (though I own them), 11 is an MMO, 12 is pretty good
PS360 - no trio released yet, though 13 is pretty bad

D. SNES could very well be the worst.
V is great but IV and VI are boring.

Pretty much everything I could hate from a ranking: X on top, the NES games AND VIII on the bottom.

I'd have to say
PS1 (all three are unique and great)
NES (II is kinda weak, but the first and third are among the best)
PS2 (rivals the NES, again X is a little weak, but XI is great so far and if XII holds up on a replay it might beat the NES)
SNES (I really love V, but it's just brought down by the story-heavy but boring IV and VI)
PS3? (Haven't played XIII, and XIV will probably bring this down forever. we'll see if XV comes out in time)

6 is the best and 4 is pretty great, but 5 is so bad that i don't think i can agree.

i pick the 6, 7, 8 trio

second best, after PSX. FFX is better than any single game on the SNES though.

D. VI and IV are great, but V is terrible and drags the other two down, making the Playstation's trio better.
