Analysis:
Two Toronto players get snubbed: Adam Lind and Ricky Romero. One roster spot has to go to a Minnesota Twin and Baker was the choice over Denard Span. Detroit obviously is heavily favored whereas the Yanks beat the Red Sox. Surprisingly, 4 Seattle players, 3 of them pitchers. Miguel Olivo gets in because catcher is razor thin. 3B is also thin, A-Rod being the only player legit enough to be an all-star at that position.

why A Rod and not Youk? I'd take A Rod for the all star game but I wouldn't say that A Rod is performing at a level that Youk isn't.

Youk has 4 more RBIs and a slightly higher on base percentage

A-Rod puts more balls into play with a much higher average. In today's game where .300 is becoming rarer, I'd vote A-Rod

...what? they have nearly identical numbers but arod didn't have as long a "starting slump" that youk had, hence the average being... I think .025 better?

Konerko is almost at the same level as Tex with RBIs and HRs, but with a damn fine BA

Cabrera is at a ridic .333 with a .453 OBP. He's on base basically every other at bat.

AL First basemen are loaded

3B is also thin, A-Rod being the only player legit enough to be an all-star at that position.

That's more what I disagree with, they both perform about the same level. It's fair to pick one over the other for whatever reasons you decide.

I think he means that none of the third basemen are really lighting the world on fire and in his opinion A-Rod squeaks in at "All Star level".

Also I think it'd be neat if they could squeeze in 3 Philly pitchers in a row, like how in the NBA they'll do things like put 4 Pistons or 4 Celtics on the floor at the same time. Doubt it'll happen though, I don't think you follow Halladay with another Philly.

Hmmm.

I'd start Ellsbury over Jones, to be honest.
And your pitcher choices, where is Justin Verlander? I would put him in over Felix Hernandez, who really isn't doing that well this year.
I agree you did kind of snub Teixiera, I would put him in over Konerko.

for the NL

You got Lance Berkman's position wrong. He should be starting in the OF instead of Justin Upton. (he plays in the OF more than at 1B.)
Zimmerman is pretty good, but I think the Nats' representative should be Tyler Clippard, who is doing a superb job as a set-up man.
I don't see Ian Kennedy on that pitching list, either (Arizona). I'd dump Chacin for him.

Now there's a starting lineup I can get behind!

A couple weeks ago I'd have blasted you for leaving Marcum off the roster, but his injury turned those last two starts into pretty rocky outings. We'll see if he can earn his way back into consideration with a good showing against the Yanks tonight.

Konerko is having the better year, should be interesting to see how the handle first basemen. Tex slots in around where A Rod and Youk are, though the HR total will probably help him out.

Maybe ditch Hardy because he missed a month and add Tex.
