The sport itself is OK at best. I can just about bear the occasional fight I suppose.
Everything surrounding it, however, is just outrageous. It's not even staged like wrestling (at least not openly <_<), but you have disasters like the press conference with Haye and Klitschko earlier today. The trash-talk was embarrassing. Haye said his fight with Audley Harrison earlier this year would be like a "gang-rape" and I'm just like...honestly? Are you really saying these words? And that fight itself, while I'm on the subject, was a joke. The whole thing was just designed to be an easy pay-packet for everyone and was marked as this brit vs. brit battle that loads of neanderthal, Sun-reading c***s bought into.
In short: sport itself is mediocre. Everything else about it is awful.

No way.
Well put. >_>
But like...ugh. All those entourages that the fighters have, the hangers on. Terrible. Everything. Terrible.

this
boxing is the most barbaric sport, don't see how people get on MMA about being savage when we have a similar sport where they have gloves that are designed to result in less surface wounds so the rounds go longer while the fighters experience the same internal injuries more repetitively
Ganon my issue is more the people who bought into the media hype that the fight would be anything other than an easy win for Haye.
Like boxing if you want, but it pissed me off that both men were awful in the build-up and the fight itself was an obvious sham (even to people not at all interested in boxing), yet people still bought into it.
I feel like me and SD are the only people around who still appreciate the subtle art of boxing.
my BIGGEST complaint is the savagery of boxing gloves. they don't really slow any of the concussive force, they simply stop surface injuries allowing the fights to go on much longer than they should.
it's brutal.

I condemn stupid stuff if it's f***ing stupid and it pisses me off.
Why should I appreciate their ability to sell that s***? Why should I applaud people for selling a product I dislike? I don't care if it's "clever marketing" when the entire fight and everything about both the fighters was a massive shambolic farce.
There's no sob story you can produce about how hard a job it is for them that will justify that Harrison/Haye fight. How much did Harrison walk away with for looking like an absolute wasteman?
You keep selling me this sob story about how hard it is to promote and how clever they are - why should I care if they're selling me a sham? Really? What are you honestly trying to prove by constantly talking about their ability as promoters?

To make money, how do you make money in boxing? by having a boxer fight, now can David Haye fight 10 superfights in a row?
No, no one can do that, even Manny Pacquiao fights guys below his level when he has to, how do you make money off fights in between? You fight the guy with the most lucrative potential, its really simple, but you have blind hate and the mindset of a dumbass here.
You have condemned an entire sport on a whim, how much boxing do you actually watch? near zero?
Do you watch say Hasegawa, or Montiel or Canelo or Guerrero?
No? Well then, how can you judge them, if you don't watch them, hmmm.
In real life, it doesn't look as technical and drags on way too long. It's like they don't get any hits that look clean and just go mad, and then KO victories end up rare so it's just some judgement call thing.

I just said the sport itself is so-so. It's everything else about the sport that brings it down.
With Football you have to take the whole package is well. You have the basic sport but then you have sky overhyping everything, people like Alex Ferguson running around, being awful. Stuff like that. But you take the rough with the smooth. Unfortunately the smooth in boxing is mediocre at best and the rough is terrible.
This isn't blind hate. I'm not judging those boxers cuz I haven't seen them. I'm judging what I see of the sport, and what I see as an outside observer really pisses me off.

The only problem i have is a lot of fights are over too quickly or they drag into 12 round bores where it's blatant that neither party is trying.

Boxing isn't super popular to spectators so they gotta rile people up to get them drawn in.
I am not blind. I think I made that expressly clear. >_>
And I don't like shams. And I don't like people buying into shams. Seriously, is that such a problem?
You should honestly be grateful when SD speaks boxing in your topic, since he's pretty much the max kellerman of the board in terms of knowledge of the sport.
speaking of which, we need to track down that japanese boxer more :P
and he does it again. amazing. he's probably losing a point next time he does it, though he should already have. he's boring as ass which you DONT need for a Klitschko opponent, at least a Wlad opponent anyway
