Anyways, I didn't even pay for this game... I got it along with HL2 and Portal stuff in the Orange Box, and just decided to play the game because 'why not?'

4 years and 500 dedicated hours later, I would have easily paid $200 for this game in hindsight

I also got the bonus of playing the game in its vanilla state, and watching the game evolve so much, which was incredibly fun. I dunno, maybe the game still has charm, but it's not nearly as much as a couple of years ago. I still remember the first time I heard the Medic's second opinion domination line... I couldn't contain myself, best line ever.

I remember when I got 14 kills in one life as demo in beta, and I felt like hot ****.

This was before the demo got nerfed at all, so I had barely used stickies due to the ridiculous explode-on-impact-always grenades.

Also, I think it was on Dustbowl, to boot. Stage 3. >_>

CSS still going strong. THE BEST.

Just goes to show that a community can keep developing for itself, since basically 90% of the servers on CSS are custom mods.

Uh...kind of, but not really. It's pretty easy to ignore, and people who are obsessed with trading hats usually do their thing outside of the game or in specific trading servers.

They are right because they suck at the game

There are many servers with above-average players who have never stopped actually playing the game. Most any server you find will have decent players that just want to play the game. It's the really crappy servers with lots of losers who are frustrated at the game which have people sitting in spawn just *****ing and trading all game. If your friends were going on those servers then maybe they just weren't good enough for the actual servers.
