sweet deal, hopefully after when i comeback on sunday this won't be purge, if it is i'll slam dunk over icon so hard vancouver island will sink.

i will have all my thoughts p. much aligned on each album after this weekend, 14 along getting spent on the drive there and back should be plenty time to listen to each album this month (including the nebulous plus the bonus rec)

Archie Shepp - The Magic of Ju-Ju
This is an alright jazz album I guess. The first track kind of drags on a bit and brings the album down. The other 3 tracks, however are all very great. The B side of this album together stomps the hell out of the A side.
Rating: ***½

Primal Scream - Screamadelica
This is my rec, and this is one of my favourite albums ever. It is a pretty dance album than Sound of Silver, and this album is fantastic in about 5 different genres it tries.
Rating: *****

PJ Harvey - Let England Shake
This whole album is great, definitely deserving of the high rating from hipster land. The only fault I really find in this album is the first track, since her voice just doesn't do it for me there. Once that 3 minutes is over it is all great from there.
Rating: ****½

Gil Scott-Heron - I'm New Here
This album will probably be rated higher in the years to come by magazines considering this was a stellar comeback album right before he passed on. Me and the Devil is definitely a contender for one of the best songs of last year. He is an amazing talker and I wish this album was a bit longer, since the samples he used all worked and he has a great voice.

St. Vincent - Actor
This album surprised me, since I expected this album to be a simple pop album. The instrumentals were all stellar, though at parts it kind of dragged a bit which hurt this album.
Rating: ****

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Definitely an album to smoke in a lounge to, though I'm a bit disappointed that SBell didn't pick an album by Davis that people haven't heard, since he has a lot of better material in my opinion (like In a Silent Way for example).
Rating: ****

Wilco - Summerteeth
This album is a little step down from Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. I still like this album, but with 17 tracks it had some more boring parts than YHF did.
Rating: ****

Ride - Nowhere
One of the best shoegaze albums of the 90s. His voice soothes my soul.
Rating: ****½

Nest - Trail of the Unwary
Going into this album I expected more vocals. Honestly, I am happy with the ambiance with little folk sounds touched on, definitely wished giggs would become a permanent member!
Rating: ****½

The Modern Lovers - The Modern Lovers
I like this album more than Summerteeth, so this would have been a better rec to go with imo. The singers voice has the classic punk vibe to it, which i dig. The only thing about this record that made me angry is that he never spelled Friend right when he was spelling it out.
Rating: ****

Primal Scream - Screamadelica: This album was very good! It tries a bunch of different things and pulls them all off pretty well. I can definitely see where all the praise comes from.

Wilco - Summerteeth: Another very good album. It felt a little long at points, but that doesn't really drag it down too much

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue: Well. It's Kind of Blue! One the great jazz albums. It's fantastic. Something that everybody should listen to at least once.

PJ Harvey - Let England Shake: Very interesting, quite good. I think I'll end up listening to this a few times.

St. Vincent - Actor: This was pretty darn cool. Not what I was expecting at all! She has a great voice, I think. But yeah, very good.

Ride - Nowhere: Okay, so. A lot of shoegaze bores me. I know, I shouldn't make a sweeping kind of statement like that, but a lot of what I've heard just doesn't do it for me. This is good, just not my thing.

Gil Scott-Heron: Woooooow. This was really, really good. I like this a whole lot. I feel bad for not listening to this before now, really. I should have made this a bigger priority.
