Deathproof is good as part of the theatrical version of Grindhouse alongside Planet Terror with the fake trailers but shitty on its own.

tbh, I hated Reservoir Dogs, and I didn't much enjoy Hateful Eight.

besides those two, I like his movies, a lot.

Pretty much. The only other director I could make an argument for is either Scorcese or David Fincher.

The hateful eight is straight up bad and would be widely regarded as such if directed by anybody else.

I would be lying if I said I haven't enjoyed his films for the most part but I feel no great desire to rewatch them or seek out his newer films either. I think Tarantino is a good 'introduction' to somewhat more esoteric media but too many people get into his films and end up bedding in instead of expanding their horizons further. Hence why it seems so much of his fanbase has is like teenagers and young males.

Denis Villeneuve is up there. He's on fire and I don't see that stopping any time soon.

He holds onto shots wayyyyyy too long, like Uma Thurmans nasty toes in Kill Bill (which was a dogshit hack frame by frame ripoff of another Japanese movie to begin with). Tarantino is by far the most overrated director ever.

I haven't seen any of his Canadian films but I enjoyed Prisoners, Blade Runner and absolutely loved Sicario. But I did not like Arrival.

Racists can be talented directors. They can be an awful person but good at what they do. Doesn't mean you have to like them as a person.

Anyway, like someone else said, I'm really surprise QT never got #MeToo'd

he doesnt understand superman
in kill bill he has bill give a long monologue about the nature of superman and how superman is the true self and clark kent is just how superman sees the world which is why clark is so mild mannered and weak

but the thing is that isnt true at all and is clearly tarantino speaking through bill
clark was raised on earth. clark kent is who he really is. superman is what he think the ideal hero is
so superman is the act and clark is the genuine person

yea i think he definitely fetishizes racism the same way he does with violence. im all for making fucked up characters say the occasional racist thing because i feel it adds realism (when you have a PC psychopath in a movie or TV show it sticks out like a sore thumb), but tarantino takes it to exploitation levels. someone like Scorsese for example handles this with much more tact imo

i'd consider it in the bottom portion of tarantino's work but i don't think it's bad, i think it's enjoyable when you view it as a stage play and kind of a homage to resevoir dogs in terms of the setting

He is the only director where I will see any movie from him no matter what. I even enjoyed The Hateful Eight, although not as much as his other films. I just rewatched both Kill Bill movies a few days ago.

First half of Death Proof is a classic 10/10 retro slasher film
Second half with the other girls dropped the score down to a 7.5/10 revenge exploitation flick, which is technically not good for Tarantino's calibre.

Kurt Russell was the fucking man though and it's great that he became a QT regular from that point on.

He also personally choked Diane Kruger to unconsciousness for Inglorious Basterds.

I'm not trying to start false rumors, but I wouldn't be surprised if it later came to light that he talked / coerced Jennifer Jason Leigh into a real hanging for Hateful Eight.

Call it reading between the lines, but I'd venture to guess that there's several good reasons why his male stars always come back for more, yet his female stars never work with him again, the exceptions being Uma Thurman (and now we all know why she stopped at two films) and Zoe Bell.

He bragged about it on Conan, and even quipped (likely unironically) that he did it for the sexual gratification.
