take it apart and eat all toppings separately

OK so there's a specific way if I make my own. Mayo goes on the bottom bun, then the meat, then the other things, then ketchup/bbq/whatever.

I've eaten burgers upside down a couple times when they came in the wrapper/packaging upside down. But I've never taken a right-side-up burger and flipped it over with the intent of eating it that way.

my brother eats them upside-down and it triggers me to no end

I have this weird, self-imposed rule when I eat burgers.

Unless it's to add toppings that fell out, once I pick it up, under no circumstance can I put it back down again.

If you eat it rightside up the whole time, you're almost certainly going to end up with more top bun than bottom bun by the end, which makes for potential mess and an uneven and dissatisfying last bite. If you flip it over halfway through, you keep the ratio of meat to bread more even and maximize the enjoyment of the burger.

I also think it's crucial to never get lettuce.

i'm not sure what you're not getting

you take a spoonful of anything sticky and viscous - peanut butter, ice cream, etc - and you put it in your mouth so that the first thing that hits the tongue is the food, not the spoon. also minimizes potential brainfreeze by keeping ice cream from hitting your soft palette immediately

I searched for eating burgers upside down on Google. I got this from a Reddit post:

I don't particularly think about when in relation to my mouth I flip it, between the bowl and my lips, but it's upside down before it touches my lips or tongue

Upside down because the way my hands move to pick it up, once its in my hands they naturally rotate and the burger ends up upside down. If I place it down and pick it back up its right side up again

I think that means you don't use a bun for eating the burger. Instead, you have the burger on a plate, using a knife/fork to eat it.

I literally just ate a Big Mac a few hours ago with a fork, no knife.
I also dipped it in my own ketchup/mayo mixture. Sometimes a fry would be on that fork as well
