Victory was never in doubt for the sniper lizard, with gen 8's starters putting on a strong showing overall. Blastoise was the only gen 1 who scored well, losing second to the drumming ape by a single vote. Charizard fails to score its third victory.

I'm voting Hatterene for being the least different (and thus the least bad) out of these options.

Don't forget that anyone who hates on Gigantamax is just an impossible-to-please Genwunner who can't understand that Pokemon is for little kids, because no one could possibly think that these abominations are, in fact, incredibly stupid looking.

It's undeniable that many of these look stupid, but unlike the Megas that looked stupid, on average I find Gigantamax to be stupid in a more fun way. Like they're designed to be over the top on purpose. Given the nature of gym battles in Galar, the spectacle is the whole point.

gigantimax turns the Pokmon into a fun kaiju which is way better than turning the Pokmon into the same Pokmon with some extra crap on it

G-maxes are definitely intentionally silly (a couple of them coming up will prove it for anyone who still has doubts!). Of course that doesn't mean they work, personally I like the ones like Orbeetle that are radically different from the base form much more than those like Hatterene. I don't think the official 2D art does most of these any favours, they're all shadowy and shown from below to emphasise their size but it just looks weird.

Not knowing any of these, I initially thought Machamp looked pretty sweet. Then I saw Grimmsnarl might be the scariest looking Pokmon Ive ever seen. Just looks overly evil in that pic.

I voted for it based on that.

G-max Orbeetle is literally the only reason I would ever use one, compared to the rest of the batch whose nonmax forms have merit otherwise.

I voted for Butterfree because I ran my g max Butterfree in my Sword team for way longer than was reasonable

It's definitely between Funhouse Gengar and Digimon Big Bad Grimmsnarl for me.

The Gengar is hilarious, as is the UFO insect, but I stand by my first reaction.

Well, not total darkness, but I think a lot of the stadium lights are in the seating area below the height of the Gigantamaxed Pokemon, and the sky darkens when it's used? That might be why

The sky darkens in the stadiums, the other places you can see these massive units is in a Raid Den. Which also makes sense to have no lights up top. And they all have glowing red energy all over the floor. Which again would light them from the bottom but leave the top in shadow.

Other than that point though, in general I was never a huge fan of Megas. They had their place, making some big none meta Pokmon at least competitive. But I think a lot of mega evos went to the wrong Pokmon, and a lot of them were super overdesigned.

D-max being available to all Mons is great.
G-max however suffers the same thing as Megas. A lot of them are overdesigned. However there is just something great about two absolutely massive kaiju like Mons battling it out. It is a spectacle. Which is exactly what it is supposed to be, they fight it out in front of stadium crowds.

The outlandish designs are exactly what I love about G-max. Out of this batch, orbeetle wins. My absolute favorite though, assuming we get to it, is Appletun/flapple as a literal caramel apple

...I didn't know Orbeetle had a Gigantamax form and I used it for parts of my playthrough!

Gmax > Megas for me.

Gotta give this one to Gengar. Shiny gmax Gengar is the coolest.

Alcremie is probably my favorite gmax overall though.
