Its like worlds colliding

I am a flaming gay liberal man and many of my gay friends arent really that into sports which is totally fine. But Im seeing them offer HOT TAKES on Carl Nassib coming out that about white privilege and that its taking away from Michael Sam.

For sure hes handsome and got that white privilege (michael sam is also handsome but not white), but hes been in the NFL for years. Michael Sam came out as a potential draft. He never got signed onto an active roster. I find it odd that people who never watched a NFL game other than the Super Bowl are offering hot takes on rosters and draft worth.

Moreover it was only around 10 years ago gay marriage has been legal, things are a lot more positive towards gay people than it was when Michael Sam came out. So its really not fair to compare the reception on a 1 to 1 basis.

not to mention michael sam was a 7th rounder, whereas nassib was a 3rd. 7ths get cut before the season all the fuckin time. third rounders -- gotta be basically an off field incident or HORRIBLE personality traits / work ethics for that to happen

Sam got drafted and played preseason but he just kinda was not very good and didn't offer much versatility. Wouldn't have made the team either if he didn't come out.

If you want to argue, there have been numerous pro NFL players who were gay but didnt come out until they retired from league play. It was inevitable that somebody would have to break the mold.
